    I worked at Nelnet full-time

    Pros

Good benefits, nice coworkers, the bosses recognize your strengths, and they offer a ton of incentives. It is also fairly easy to move up in the company.

    Cons

As with all call centers, Nelnet is benefitting from unemployed bachelor's degree educated workers. They do not pay them enough and they tend to be some of the hardest workers in the call center. Its a bit irritating.

    I worked at Nelnet full-time

    Pros

Flexible, room to grow within company. The department was great to work for because I had an awesome supervisor.

    Cons

Top management was not very approachable. We had meetings where we had to give our input but they did not listen.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. If you have meetings for input, what is the point if you choose not to listen.

    Pros

Company is very flexible with work life balance and working with associates to accommodate changing life circumstances.

    Cons

Very many office clicks and associates within the clicks have little to no accountability.

    Pros

Competitive salary, nice people, low stress

    Cons

Poor communication from upper management, tough to get promoted unless you know people or live in Nebraska

    Advice to Management

When changes are going to occur, let people know before not after

I worked at Nelnet full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Depends on the business unit. Good family/work balance. Decent benefits.

    Cons

Small town thinking and clicks in management that are hard to break through. Terrible customer service and reps need serious professional training on how to interact with a customer.

    Advice to Management

Hire external consultants to show long term managers who have never seen another company how it should be done.

    Pros

Relaxed dress, most coworkers were open and willing to share their knowledge. Good vacation package.

    Cons

High turnover, seemed lower level positions were disposable, lost a lot of knowledge from turning over so quickly

    Advice to Management

Find the best people and keep them.

    Pros

Flexible hours, great working conditions, some excellent technicians.

    Cons

Despite the Agile attempt, the company is held back by old, slow attitudes as well as short-sighted goals and management styles.

    Advice to Management

Embrace Enterprise-wide concepts not just industry-popular siloed methods. Look at the big picture, determine how to positively work company-wide, and commit.

    Pros

The benefits and time off, personal and vacation, are pretty generous. Flexible work schedules are also great for most employees.

    Cons

The compensation is below average. Management does not commute changes or updates in a very timely manner to employees. Not very committed to employees.
