I worked at Nestlé Purina PetCare full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Nestle Purina does a very good job at training their new hires in how to do their job well. The company itself takes pride in its products and you can see/feel it in their employees. Everyone that i have come in contact with has been super friendly and helpful.

    Cons

This is an onsite role so creating and maintaining a healthy relationship with your counterparts was challenging. In the previous role, I worked at the headquarters and all of my resources were at my fingertips. This role is much different where I am sitting in the client building where I am physically away from my team. It made it difficult for me to get my barrings when it comes to sales updates, category trends, and even just the day to day happenings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management was one of the best I have worked with. I have met and spoken to all of them and each are very personable and very much interested in my career advancement. I really enjoyed getting to know and learning from them.

I have been working at Nestlé Purina PetCare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Nice People. Fun culture.

    Cons

The way we evaluate employees and determine promotions and raises is not consistent nor fair. If you have good quality employees, you may have to give some of them an average or below average rating even though they are exceptional. That doesn't make sense at all. And it seems that personal relationships determine success in getting in promotions over your quality of work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The way we evaluate employees and determine promotions and raises is not consistent nor fair. The fact that a manager has to force employees into the entire grid and rank them, is absurd. So if you have good quality employees, you may have to give some of them an average or below average rating even though they are exceptional. That doesn't make sense at all. And it seems that personal relationships determine success in getting in promotions over your quality of work.

I have been working at Nestlé Purina PetCare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

strong work-life balance, pets at work perk, on site fitness center, open campus rather than one office tower, on site day care

    Cons

pay is not competitive with other companies; opportunities for advancement fluctuate greatly from manager to manager; easy to get put into a silo with littte to no chance of moving up or out of a department

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

some departments are simply too big for a managing director to truly understand what's going on under him. It's very easy for a manager or team leader to coast along, which hurts the development or advancement of those under them.

I have been working at Nestlé Purina PetCare as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Excellent culture with a passionate leadership team. This company goes above and beyond to make associates' work lives better. People are genuinely happy working at Purina.

    Cons

Management communicated terribly with me as a contractor. During my interview, I was repeatedly assured that I would not be pushed out without a job to fall back on. A job never came, and my contract was ended, and that left me unemployed. A contractor that worked alongside me was allowed to work in that position for much longer, an opportunity I wasn't afforded. It soured what was otherwise an outstanding experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider not alienating contractors from what is a terrific company and hire supervisors that actually have the guts to confront you if they aren't happy about something.
