I have been working at Nestlé Purina PetCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are multiple ones that can be listed, but the one that comes to mind immediately are the people throughout the company. I cannot even begin to list how ecstatic I am to be apart of an amazing company.

    Cons

At this time I cannot think of anything negative to say about the company. I am thankful to be here and find the good in each day as much as I possibly can.

    Advice to Management

Continue standing behind your employees encouraging & strengthening them along the way.

I have been working at Nestlé Purina PetCare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work life balance Salary Benefits Bring pets to work Community involvement through Pet Care pride day

    Cons

Unclear sick time policy. While they are very flexible with taking necessary time off, having something in writing on sick policy would be nice. Telecommuting and bring your own device policies could use less restrictions and be embraced more.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Add a more clearly defined sick policy. Adding time off for volunteering and community outreach of our choice would be a neat perk I have seen some companies doing recently.

I have been working at Nestlé Purina PetCare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Accepting an offer from Nestle Purina PetCare was one of the best decisions I've ever made! The company atmosphere is very unique. They offer employees the freedom to be creative and form their own careers while still having an established system for career advancement. The corporate team is very supportive, especially of those in the management development program. Working at a manufacturing plant provides a fast-paced environment with many opportunities to become involved quickly. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience thus far and am looking forward to a future here at Nestle Purina.

    Cons

There are some "cons" to working at a manufacturing facility for NPPC. The Management Development Program, while providing leadership experience within one year of employment, also expects those in the program to be able and willing to relocate at any moment. Relocating to other plants in the company gives employees in the management development program the opportunity to move up in the company quickly with increasing amounts of responsibility, but can be difficult for some people to do.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is to continue to support the company employees and provide them with freedom and flexibility while having an established corporate structure.

I have been working at Nestlé Purina PetCare full-time (Less than a year)

There are multiple Pros to working for a great company like Nestle Purina. The one that sticks out the most is the quality of people that work for Nestle Purina. Everyone here is enthusiastic and engaged in creating a wonderful product for our pets. This environment is easy and exciting to step into as a new associate and embrace to culture from day one.

I have been working at Nestlé Purina PetCare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Absolutely everything. *Benefits - cannot claim a better package at any other employer *Job Security - dedicated to those who are dedicated to the company *Pay - I'm not complaining *Career Advancement - Encourages employees to excel *You can bring your pet to work

    Cons

I guess the only con is that the company isn't nice enough to provide free breakfast and lunch, or the occasional shoulder rubs. Is that a con?

I worked at Nestlé Purina PetCare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Beautiful campus, lots of scenic places to eat your lunch, take a walk, let your pet roam - Yes, you really can take your pets to work if they're enclosed and have their medical papers (only cats and dogs, reptiles must stay home) - Great benefits package with additional perks throughout the year - Regular campus events with massive giveaways, I'm talking several bags of free pet and human goodies - Centrally located with a great view of the Arch, a 5 min walk to Busch Stadium, lots of great restaurants nearby, but not in the heart of downtown so traffic isn't a nightmare - They look internally to fill a position before they take it external, so if you're a high performer and want to move up you generally will (more on that in the cons section) - On site Purina Store with hugely discounted Purina products and other Nestle brands, like Lean Cuisines, DiGiorno pizza, Nes Cafe, Gerber and many other aisles - On site conveniences like a gym that offers group classes, medical center which is free and has an onsite nurse who can treat nearly everything, a nursing station for new mothers, a mail room that ships to anywhere, and credit union - Generally everyone you encounter is happy to be there, very friendly atmosphere - People take pride in their work, the company speaks out against false claims and is open with employees when it comes to these issues. I have never once doubted the superior quality of our products and felt the same pride saying I worked for Purina - Everyone loved Pat and Joe is following those same footsteps

    Cons

    - Very little turn over. This is a con for people wanting to move up in their career, or even switch departments. And though they first look internally to fill a position, you will likely be competing with several co-workers chomping at the bit for a promotion, which can cause tension and rifts no matter how they try and mitigate it - Transparency is not their strong suit. There are several theories as to why, but it doesn't change the frustration employees feel. Management isn't open about promotions, sometimes you didn't even know there was an opening, there isn't feedback as to why some people are passed up. Or people are let go and you have no idea why. And in turn it causes employees to be secretive, I've known several people wanting to apply internally to other jobs and didn't feel comfortable telling their manager. - Pay isn't competitive with other big name companies in the area, the cost of working for the most-loved company in STL is reflected on your paycheck - Parking can be a nightmare after 8am, the designated lots aren't big enough and there's a massive wait list to get an assigned spot- which you pay for. So if you don't have a spot you're competing for a non-designated space which are scarce and fill very early. Street parking goes pretty fast, too - We also ran out of campus space, so some groups are stationed at off site locations and miss out on campus events, giveaways, the gym, Purina store, etc. - If you are at a factory location the experience will be totally unique to that site, and some factories have a better reputation than others

    Advice to Management

Provide more communication around the choices that are made within each department. There are already rumors going around, and the reality is usually much better than what people are whispering.

I have been working at Nestlé Purina PetCare as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company has excellent long term vision. Purina, like many other companies, finds itself with an aging workforce. The Management Trainee Program teaches on all facets of the business -- manufacturing operations, accounting, supply chain, human resources, and more. You relocate to different locations throughout this paid program, learn the business, then set a preference where you would like to work. Individuals come out of this program incredibly well-rounded and understand Purina's business as well as someone that has worked there for a long time. I highly recommend Purina and its program.

    Cons

I have no cons for Purina at this time.

    Advice to Management

The Management Trainee Program is an excellent idea and there are very few, if any, companies that go to the extent you do to train your next generation of employees.

    Pros

People-oriented company. Heavy investment in employees and endless opportunities. Strong work-life balance and a culture that stresses open communication.

    Cons

As jobs continue to come to St. Louis, parking situation can get little tight at times.

    Advice to Management

Don't change the culture. It is what what makes this company great! And another building on campus may be necessary with expansion.
