I worked at NetApp as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Great culture here directly related to the great people - everyone was nice and upbeat. I was given responsibility and accountability for meaningful projects that made a difference. Entrepreneurial spirit is still strong here for such a large company. You are expected to work hard and get your work done, but you have control over your own methods. Everyone was helpful across the departments I got to work with. I truly get the sense the company cares about its employees, and at least once a month there was something cool going on around the work campus for employees.

    Cons

I entered knowing little about data storage solutions technology - which can be an area that is difficult to learn up on. Still, NetApp has great internal training and knowledge management which helped me learn the basics of the technology quickly. Biggest con is that I can't stay and keep working for NetApp full time!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider hiring specialized corporate level positions straight out of grad school (legal/corp. dev./management). It might invigorate even more those interns who currently know they can't be hired straight out of school. I know it's not standard procedure in the industry, but you may be able to capture real talent early on and at an entry-level cost.

I worked at NetApp as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

-Large intern class makes in-house internship less lonely that at similar-sized companies.
-Management is invested in the success of interns, happy to get legal interns in front of law firm contacts.
-Substantive projects and responsibility come early and often.
-The Legal department is very well networked and positioned in the Valley

    Cons

-The corporate intern program tries a little too hard at times to be cool

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider offering some projects to the legal intern class to work on as a group, which cut across the practice areas.

I have been working at NetApp as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

    Perks:
     - Easy to get in touch with team members
     - Projects given are actually something the company/team needs but has not been able to get around to
     - Volunteer and give back to the community
     - Days are themed with activities (Friday = Beer Bash)
     - Office culture is very welcoming and people are overall happy
     - Depending on your manager, there is availability to work from home
     - Support life outside or work and NetApp and people overall like the work they are doing
     - Nice work-life balance

    Cons

Almost none. Finding someone with the same technical experience as you might be a challenge but that's hardly a problem thanks to the internet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are tons of free training courses available to employees that allow certification in certain areas and personal growth in others. The compensation for your work is fantastic and depending on the amount of educational experience (in years) you have, you will be more compensated.

I worked at NetApp as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

NetApp has an unparalleled work environment, with welcoming employees who care about your personal development. Managers assigned me to challenging projects, but always put me into a position to succeed and offered assistance. Fantastic place to gain corporate experience, with name and brand recognition that jumps out on a resume.

    Cons

    Watch out for the cloud!

I have been working at NetApp as an intern

    Pros

Volunteer opportunities, great cafeterias, and wonderful employees. The internship program offers many opportunities to learn new tasks and interact with executives and other employees. There are great executive speaker presentations for interns that add a lot of value to the experience.

    Cons

Working here forces you to be self motivated to get tasks done, most engineers tend to keep to themselves so having a social workplace may not be common in your department.
