    Pros

The best thing about Netflix is the ability for every single person to have a significant impact on the business. Each employee is given a huge piece of the business to own and we are allowed to make the right call with judgement. There is a ton of flexibility and the lack of policies and procedures makes each person use their brain when making decision. Netflix hires adults and treats them that way. A very unique and challenging work place that acknowledges hard work and expects high performance.

    Cons

Expectations for employees are extremely high and everyone is extremely visable (also a good thing too).

    Advice to Management

They are doing a great job, I don't have any feedback.

    Pros

Benefits are terrific and I have my perfect shift. Free movies are always wonderful. This is the perfect job for me because it really is low stress and it is a perfect avenue for my love of film, film history and general film knowledge.

    Cons

Lack of communication and inconsistency of management team. Career opportunities are improving but not quickly enough. Performance reviews have been a long time coming and still are not in place with compensation increases.

    Advice to Management

Tighten things up, get consistent, replace some of the team managers with competent leadership styles. Things are getting a little sloppy again and the manager/staff relationships are at times, inappropriate.

    Pros

The call center in Hillsboro is truly focused on making our customers' experience a great one each and every time.

    Cons

24-7 work environment isn't for everyone

    Advice to Management

Continue to set the performance bar high. It's what makes us different from other call centers.

    Pros

You are surrounded by very bright people focused on creating a great product for our subscribers and a great environment for employees. It's exciting to be on the cutting-edge of media and technology. The company offers a lot of freedom, and the responsibility that comes with it. Employees are treated like the adults they are.

    Cons

If you like stability, this may not be the place for you. We have a high performance culture and in addition may change directions suddenly (for the good of the whole business), impacting people and projects in which heavy investment may have been made. The company does not manage your career; you manage your career. Depending on the department, there can be limited opportunities for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Reed and his team have built a great company and a wonderful environment in which to work. Be careful not to apply general concepts across an increasingly diverse employee population.

    Pros

Fast paced, dynamic industry, good compensation, interesting work. Netflix hires talented people and gives them real responsibility. This leads to high performers and the company philosophy is to let under performers go and to replace them with top talent. I have found the work challenging and in a short period of time have been given more responsibility. Netflix is a leader in innovation and willing to take risks

    Cons

Promotions difficult to come by. At times the high performance culture can make the company seem like a revolving door and there are some job security questions but in general this leads to higher overall performance.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be flexible and quick - it is our competitive advantage.

    Pros

Freedom and responsibility. For example no predefined vacation policies.

    Cons

Independent carrier growth. Hires greatly talented individual contributors thus if you want to grow up in the ladder this may not be the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus, be the leader on the internet media. Not to complicate things as we grow.

    Pros

Teamwork is highly valued in the Netflix culture, with team members even contributing to peer employee reviews. Netflix is performance and goal oriented. Everything you do at Netflix is important to the business. My team and the teams around me are very bright and are always thinking around how technology can grow the business. Netflix management embraces change where they see opportunities to grow the business.

    Cons

Netflix is not a startup and not a big company. If you are looking for either of those then this would not be the place for you. Change is a given at Netflix, nothing stands still.

    Advice to Management

    Stay the course.

    Pros

Netflix is a strong well run company. Netflix pays well. Netflix is in a high-value service industry, not affected by the rapid commoditization of tech. Netflix business is immune to low-quality, low-cost offshore knock-offs. Netflix hires seasoned developers, and pays for the experience, unlike certain other companies (that might be in the search business) that only hire cheap junior engineers. Netflix understands that employees have a life unlike certain other companies (that might be in the search business).

    Cons

The "average performance gets you a generous severance package" policy is a little ambiguous, and tends to leave one a bit paranoid (this can a good thing). Reluctance to hire promising junior engineers.

    Advice to Management

None, they are among the best in the world. Far be it for me to presume to be able to advise them :-)
