    Pros

Family like atmosphere, people usually help each other, time to time postdocs hang out together

    Cons

No career or salary growth, position instability solely dependend on grant availability, generally everything depends on the PI and his her requirement which you cannot really change

    Advice to Management

Should care more about postdocs and their positions and salaries since whole research is dependent on them and their hard work, thus they should be appreciated more. There should be uniform rules regarding postdoc salaries and benefits and working schedule which PIs should strictly follow.

    Pros

kind of family environment, small college where everybody knows each other, and everybody tries to help each other when you need it. a lot of vacation in the labs where official college holidays are accepted (most of the Jewish holidays) though it varies from PI to PI.

    Cons

no chance to grow much professionally, low salary comparing to expenses in NY area, not a stable position since postdocs are dependent on the grant support which is nowadays hard to get, not much flexibility, sometimes very stressful and demanding conditions, not appropriate to the salary range.

    Advice to Management

the college should support postdocs more and establish the rules equal to all of the employees including postdocs and push the PIs to keep this rules. Postdocs are the most essential part of the research, doing practically all the scientific work, starting from the bench, tutoring through the data analysis and writing publications and grants. Hence they should be appreciated more.

    Pros

Relaxed hours, some of the people you get to work with are down to earth. If you're looking to attend graduate school it's a great opportunity to work their a year and then attend their graduate school with tuition reimbursement. Good benefits.

    Cons

Pay low- not what you deserve for the work that you're doing. Upper management horrible, take advantage of people below them and HR doesn't do a thing about it. Overall a bit stiff.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with more respect.
