    Pros

Big Company, nice people, Relax Enviornment if you compare to most of the financial industry companies... No strict time in & out check, contractors got to pay for which ever # of hours they stay in the office, and FT Employer can come in at anytime as long as they go to meetings at time and done their work properly.

    Cons

Too loose enviornment knowing the fact it is such a big company... People are not as punctual as you might expect... Long waiting time for each task to be done because it took to long to gather information and everyone just forgot what were they suppose to do... Kind of getting annoyed by this part... Also, they have a really strict head count for each department, but hire many interns/temps/consultant(long term temps) instead. I believe they do pay alright, but no benefits and what so ever. So it you decide for a week of vacation. Go, at any time. No Pay.

    Pros

Very large company with room to move within the business

    Cons

Does not promote a team culture or align its employees to one vision. Very impersonal and uninvolved.

    Pros

The salary is competitive, though raises are stingy to non-existent. But that is not unusual for news business these days. Great colleagues, challenging assignments.

    Cons

The work is less enterprise-oriented than it used to be. Much of the time you are delivering commodity news that every other news site has.

    Advice to Management

    Stop micro-managing your employees

    Pros

Very easy going, collaborative and deadline driven environment. Good place to work.

    Cons

Very old-fashioned ideas. Need to keep up with the digital world. Some in the executive management need to understand that the newspaper business is moving away from print to digital very fast.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management is good, but just needs to be less policitcaL.

Not terrible but could be much better

    Pros

You'll learn from some seasoned smart journalists. Not all of them are great managers, however.

    Cons

There are also some mediocre staffers who don't pull their weight. It can feel like an assembly line. Tenure sometimes outranks talent.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time on talent management and realistically assess workloads, which can differ quite dramatically.

  7. It was a very interesting place to work but the structure was hard to navigate, there didn't seem to be a common goal

    Pros

Interesting people, interesting things to learn, great offices. Good autonomoy

    Cons

difficult to understand who actually was making the decisions.

    Advice to Management

more formal structure and decision making authority, less time wasting doing the same thing 10 times

    Pros

Your colleagues will be some of the best journalists in the business. There are many offices around the world, and it's fairly easy to get a posting anywhere you want (especially if you speak the language, but that's not necessary in many cases). The brand name is known almost everywhere. If you want to do your work and clock out, you can do that. If you want to do your work and then keep working ridiculous hours without compensation, you can do that. I learned a lot about politics.

    Cons

Politics. Secrecy. Did I mention politics? You learn to play the game, which is a plus if you want to play the game. There's little management training or support, so unqualified managers are left trying to make sense of the mess. It's a news business that thinks it's adjusted to the digital age.

    Advice to Management

Real management training. Better compensation. Openness.

    Pros

Great money, young people, good opportunity to learn to multi-task while under pressure.

    Cons

Team leaders don't understand the systems and crm tools enough to problem solve when a DSP has a serious issue that could prevent an advertising campaign being booked. High school environment.

    Advice to Management

Train the team leaders in the contact center to use all of the booking systems so that a DSP has a reliable helper available rather than someone just monitoring call KPIs

    Pros

Fascinating and abundant professional opportunities; compensation and perks are competitive; fast-paced/energetic culture

    Cons

Highly political culture; right hand often does not know what the left hand is doing; executive management disconnected from what happens at mid executive and line level; fractured organizational culture

    Advice to Management

Create opportunities for employees at every level to connect to the mission and vision of the enterprise

    Cons

    Mainly vox-Pops. No salary.
