    Pros

The staff discount, 25%. Sometimes nice customers make your day and the fact you make new friends with people.

    Cons

The way you are treat, the hours, the managers, the rude customers, the sales. worst job i have ever had.

    Advice to Management

Treat us like people, not like idiots, shouting at us infront of customers is not fair. Horrible work place! !

I worked at Next Retail part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - 25% staff discount is really good - Uniform allowance is good - The main workforce are very nice people, and very easy to work with

    Cons

    - Inconsiderate management - Lack of encouragement to do a good job - No reward for doing a good job - Treat their work force terribly - During sale time they force people to work two shifts with only four hours in between - On some occasions we were forced to work through our breaks with no compensation

    Advice to Management

    - Take a good look at the people who are in charge of the stores and get real feedback from staff

    Pros

    good discount, always extra hours

    Cons

put in for shifts without asking, poor pay, uniform rules a joke (you can only buy next clothes that another employee doesnt have. or wear own navy blue suit .. no thanks)

    Advice to Management

listen to employees when they say they cant do an extra shift rather than saying ok and then ringing them the next day asking where they are

I worked at Next Retail full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent staff discount and uniform allowance. Over time at busy periods Decent amount of annual leave Good bonus scheme

    Cons

Low salaries Poor working conditions - half hour break for working a full day? No flexibility Expected to work half an hour after your shift finishes to tidy the store and cash up without pay!

    Advice to Management

The managers get bonus for cutting hours. Sales staff stretched to breaking point so you can walk away with a nice gift card? Hardly seems fair if you're going to sit in the office all day.

I have been working at Next Retail part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good discount, able to move floors and priority over sale when the next sale comes in the summer.

    Cons

5am Summer sale which is compulsory, high turnover rate, temporary contracts so when you make a mistake they don't have to extend your contract, rubbish pay, no communication between staff, not allowed to swap shifts and can only work upto 20 hours on a part time contract. along with 3 hour shift can also be allocated.. not even worth waking up for!

    Advice to Management

don't employ people a couple of months and then train them up to then employ a new handful of people. It's ridiculous. even the people that wanted to stay was turfer out of thier own contracts.

    Pros

Brand name, discount (25% off), uniform allowance, most of the staff are friendly

    Cons

Disorganised training, No respect for your hard-work. Rude managers. Discount card didn't arrive even after two months of working there!

    Advice to Management

A simple thank you upon being released would have been nice.

I worked at Next Retail part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They give good staff discount and uniform allowance. Booking time off and contracts were good.

    Cons

I started when I was 17, I was therefore only ever considered as someone who was young with no aspirations of going higher. I hoped to work my way up into merit sales and did all the necessary requirements but a year later I was still waiting. Sale times are very stressful. Training is not very good and does not adequately prepare you. Manager showed no respect for staff and I was often left alone on the floor, leaving high security risks. Often spoken to in a rude manner. My contract day changed and I was not informed of it.

    Advice to Management

Improve training. Ensure respect is shown so that all members of staff feel valued. Improve fairness and progression opportunities, for all ages.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Next Retail part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You're always guarenteed atleast 4 hours a week, and get a good store discount.

    Cons

Very disrespectful, I got no appreciation for what I did. The management was terrible. I got given hours last minute, without any pre-warning. I never got given the hours I was contracted for. I also got given hours, that I had previously stated 3 times, I could not work. I was made to work in environments that should not be permitted due to health and safety legislations. I was made to work after I had teeth taken out and was in pain. I was getting shouted at for issues that weren't my fault, but the fault of the staff from the previous day/shift. I finished my training on my last day of working. And finally, I was given my contract to sign 2 weeks before it ended.

    Advice to Management

Respect your staff, and don't make them feel 3 feet tall. Pre-warn staff on hours given and don't change them last minute. Ensure the training process is carried out appropriately and quickly. Organise yourselves better. Provide more opportunities for those who work hard and those wishing to excel within the business.

I have been working at Next Retail part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Erm.... Discount for uniform, discounts

    Cons

Awful company to work for. Glad I left. After 6 years you would think they would treat you as a valuable member or stff but no. If I didn't hand my notice in I would of been fired FOR BEING SIGNED OFF!!!!!! (Assistant store manga get even told me that) despite my doctors note.

    Advice to Management

Would seriously consider treating staff better. More praise instead of having so much negativity. Staff that have been signed off, for good reason too, you might want to help and understand where they are coming from and be a bit more passionate not to drive them away and hand their notice in.
