Current Employee – been working at Nokia Siemens Networks full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – - 6% company match for 401k
- flexible work time
Cons – - It's very difficult to get any promotions. Company is interested in the cheapest engineers.
- Your salary is based on your nationality not on the competence. Finnish engineers have the highest salaries. On the same position engineer from LAM would get 60 000 - 70 000 $ per year. But Finnish engineer would get 90 000 - 100 000 $.
- Most managers don't respect you at all. You wouldn't get any compensation for the overtime or night work.
Advice to Senior Management – respect your engineers. Salary should be based on the competence not on the nationality.

Former Employee – worked at Nokia Siemens Networks full-time for more than a year
Pros – - Global Company
- Interested in rolling out cutting edge technologies
Cons – - Lack of direction
- Lack of execution
- Poor communication
Advice to Senior Management – - Vision is created at the top but lower level managers are not held accountable for results.
- Stop keeping organizational changes secret, a more open dialogue with employees will reduce the rumors and stress.

Current Employee – been working at Nokia Siemens Networks full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – NSN is making a come-back after many repetitive bad quarters. It's gaining back market share and pushing hard against Huawei in a fight for the second position.
Cons – Complete absence of career path. Jobs are assigned based on connections. Perseverance and hard work will almost never pay off. The waves of headcount reduction seem to target the least protected people (and often the most hard working and honest). Employees are expected to work late on a regular basis.
Advice to Senior Management – Fire the entire corrupt and utterly useless HR, and get some talented people on board. This company needs to set up real career paths for its employees. HR being "sharks" is very 1990's.

Pros – Good market position as #2 supplier in telecom infrastructure equipment.
Cons – This is a joint venture company between the cellular infrastructure divisions from Nokia and Siemens. They are still trying to find their way in melding the 2 companies together. They need to get better processes in place and improve quality.
Advice to Senior Management – Embrace your newly acquired Motorola Solutions employes. (NSN acquired MSI infrastructure division in 2011)

Former Employee – worked at Nokia Siemens Networks full-time for less than a year
Pros – Reasonably sound benefits, reasonably good company web site, a great deal of training opportunities online.
Cons – Recycled management situation. They announced 17,000 person lay-off last November but management was just recycled. Things can't be that bad financially with no one to blame in upper management.
Advice to Senior Management – Pin-point the company's issues and focus on correcting those issues. If the management in that area is lacking, maybe it's time to bring in someone from the outside with some new ideas.

Former Employee – worked at Nokia Siemens Networks full-time for more than a year
Pros – Strong global experience and brand recognition for the parent companies. The company started with very smart people but because of the issues, many of them left.
Cons – Difficult to get your job done, as everything had to go to Finland for approval. Promotions were based on internal politics and not results.
Advice to Senior Management – You have a lot of smart people, you should listen to them.
