I worked at Nordstrom part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Loved working in a commission-based environment. It was up to you to put in the effort and you were rewarded for you work.

    Cons

I was expecting to have a part-time position, but found myself working almost 40 hours a week. I wish I would have had a better idea of what would have been expected of me regarding time before I accepted.

I have been working at Nordstrom full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

It is a place where you can grow because they believe in promoting from within. The harder you're willing to work the more you can earn.

    Cons

It is commission based so you have to be willing to work hard to get ahead. The hours are not easy and there are sales goals to meet. Sometimes the goals are pretty steep.

I worked at Nordstrom full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I worked with a great group in my department. Seeing/learning about all the new products/designers we would get in was amazing. Able to use discount on top of already discounted items

    Cons

Hard to grow within company. Old manager was a bit over bearing. Was hired for full-time, only to learn I was actually "full-time flex" which means you are cut down to part time during non busy season. Hard to pay the bills this way. Returns get deducted from your paycheck, customers take advantage of return policy and like to "borrow" item, which ends up hurting your pay check

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't hover over sales employees. Re-evalute your return policy or come up with a system where it doesn't effect employees so much.
