    Pros

Rewarding job/career. You see a lot of machines, tools and equipment that are very unique and not many people have the chance to see.

    Cons

Work/Life balance was a huge negative for me.

    Advice to Management

Realize in order to keep employees, they have to be happy.. Happy employees not only do their job better but they make everyone's job better. Don't force people to move if they're happy where they are or want a job somewhere else.

I have been working at Norfolk Southern full-time

    Pros

NS has a competitive salary and a very nice retirement plan. Their RFE management training program has a couple of extra salary raises over the 1st year and a half.

    Cons

The senior management recently put forth a lot of money and effort towards a "culture change". Sadly, once it left corporate its sincerity is lacking. It's a very exhausting job. People that do well here are good a maintaining a negative state of mind. It's not for the optimistic, encouraging or positivity driven.

I worked at Norfolk Southern full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Regular work schedule; 7;00 am to 3:30 pm five days a week. Great benefits. Good pay, with overtime available.

    Cons

Upper management almost never hires and never has enough people to to the jobs correctly. Local management is inexperienced and ill-prepared. Local management tends to play favorites.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to recognize the need to hire more people to do the job, and recruit better local middle management.
