    Pros

nortel was a stable workplace. it had good 401 k matching, like 100 % match up to 5 %. work environment mostly relaxed. lt had a reasonable to good work life balance

    Cons

it wasn't really a successful company. the stock never did well. people were not super motivated across the board. there was a lot of lackluster coworkers

    Advice to Management

they need to motivate employees more. have a strong policy to enforce performance. better vision in marketing for product roadmap.

    Pros

Nortel was a large company and had a lot of opportunity to find your position. They also invested in product development.

    Cons

Financially unstable. Management did not see the reduction in the telecom industry and did not react quickly enough.

    Advice to Management

Need to review and react more quickly. Also need to improve the level of accountability for each senior manager.

    Pros

Strong Products in Wireless infrastructure, Telephony, Networking and Optical Networks

    Strong Brand Recognition

    Cons

Burden of financial restructure in mid 2000's
Execs unable to monetize IP value
Business failed to leverage Services as a profitable strength

    Advice to Management

Chapter 11 was easy way out. Add up the sale of businesses and IP and you more than cover your debt. So Why?

    Pros

great technological innovation in its day, recognized leader in telecommunications advances that gave us caller id and voice over ip, but couldn't get out of its own way in the end

    Cons

succumbed to the crash of 2009 and self interests of the top leaders; declared bankruptcy in 2009, after top leaders ensured they got what they needed out of the company coffers.

    Advice to Management

should have moved faster and with more determination in changing the company culture; employees dedicated themselves to the company and its legacy, but leaders too worried about their own position to care
