Current Employee – been working at Northeastern University for more than 7 years
Pros – nice location, nice campus, clever advertising to attract students with money
Cons – incompetent leadership, culture of greed, it's commonplace for people in leadership positions to bring in their friends for jobs (often these friends are not qualified), sexism in the advancement department, some questionable fundraising tactics, board of directors not really engaged in oversight, mediocre academics, a lot of in-fighting in various academic departments
Advice to Senior Management – bring in an organizational development consultant to weed out incompetent and nasty leaders
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Former Employee – worked at Northeastern University
Pros – Students are enthusiastic, if ill-prepared. Librarians are wonderful.
Cons – As adjunct faculty, you have no community and no support in the program I was hired into. Students are not well-prepared for upper level courses.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat adjunct and contingent faculty fairly. Offer contracts earlier so people can plan their lives.

Current Employee – been working at Northeastern University
Pros – Great location in Boston, exciting up and coming academic environment, fantastic co-workers, good benefits (as is the case with most higher ed employers)
Cons – Broken senior leadership, administrative turf wars, constant political wrangling, fear, capricious decision-making, poor work life balance, unnecessarily stressful atmosphere that filters down from top to bottom
Advice to Senior Management – The high rate of turnover is due to the stressful work environment. The faculty and staff of Northeastern are capable of doing great things but not as long as these otherwise passionate, motivated people are being driven out by a toxic working environment.

Former Employee – worked at Northeastern University
Pros – excellent pay, excellent extracurricular activities, facilities,
Cons – poor upper management and professionalism to generate the necessary team work and organization to make a research group committed toward success.
Advice to Senior Management – leave the ego's at home and it's a group effort if the research in each dept is to be a success.
