    Pros

    - Supervisors were very warm and supportive, which created great culture.
    - This was a work study position, so they offered flexible scheduling to work around my classes.
    - Great opportunity to learn general office skills.
    - This position only hired individuals in the department, so it was a great opportunity to build relationships with department faculty.

I have been working at Northern Michigan University part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It's great working at NMU because you can go to work in-between classes and make your own schedule. I've worked two jobs on campus and both of my bosses have been more than willing to work around my class schedule.

    Cons

The downside of working at NMU is that most on-campus jobs do not provide any opportunity for advancement. It is rare that you will ever make above minimum wage while working an on-campus job.

I have been working at Northern Michigan University

    Pros

Marquette is a great place to live, if you like four seasons. It is especially good for active people who enjoy outdoor activities and sports.
The university is a pretty good place to work. The people in the U.P. and very friendly and there is very little crime.

    Cons

NMU seems to always have a financial crisis because of the state of Michigan's financial problems.
The State's politicians are openly hostile to public education and public employees.
University facilities vary greatly. Look carefully to see how your department is set up.
Make sure your offer letter specifically credits you for prior experience or you'll be starting with zero foe promotion purposes.
