    Great company in Chicago for IT department. Employees are very happy with work and life balance. Flexible work schedule.

    Some technologies are not properly utilized. But we see changes now.

    Some IT areas are very critical. Please make sure we have enough staff(Full time) before the key resource/s move out of the company.

    There is lot's of room for advancement,everyone is a team players, plenty of training to get you going to get the job done in a timely sufficient matter that is beneficiary to the company.

    You get the experience you need, to advance to a higher level, nice compensation,plenty of overtime

    When a new employee comes in for contract position another contracted person shouldn't be the one to train them, and they should give them a chance, at least the minimum of 30 days

    Pros

    My co-workers at Northern were great, everyone was very friendly and willing to help. I use the skills that I got from Northern in my current internship consistently. I would like to be involved in strategy development in the near future and because of this, my supervisors included me in many strategic meetings.

    I did not have any problems while working at Northern, I do not have a bad thing to say about it.

    Great benefits, work-life balance, and sometimes, compensation, depending upon what you are doing.
    Firm likes to attract and retain good talent in certain areas by making a real effort.

    Cons

    Perhaps too risk-averse, can be more innovative.
    Also need to focus more on growing revenues and less on reducing expenses.
