    Pros

Travel, sometimes a fun job, nice in summer to work outside, good people

    Cons

Weather in the winter, no career advancement opportunities, horrible management, no longer a "career", it's now just "a job".

    Pros

Plenty of opportunity to upgrade skills and transfers to wherever you wanted to work. Time off for "quality of life"issues (swapping days off with other employees) was really good

    Cons

I enjoyed my time and opportunities at Northwest....Delta is just a whole different "management animal" and they like to micro-manage everything....and that stops you from becoming an effective employee....

    Great people to work with!
Never boring working at the airport!
Work schedule is flexible as you can trade days off with others!

    Cons

    Working hours suck!
    No advancement what so ever!
Union protection (I like the protection, but it just protect alot of lazy people and I ended up getting punished by doing their jobs too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop micro manage people who has been there hell a lot longer than you are. WE KNOW WHAT TO DO! Other than that, you guys did great!

    Pros

now we are the worlds largest airline and that gives us a great variation to non revenue traveling also we might get a raise
the coworkers are very nice i L A and that makes work so much more fun. teamwork is mostly very good. the company just announced that we are going to grow so i guess our jobs are stable as of right now but as we know that might change any minute

    Cons

our managers are not on our side when the customers complain and the pay is not verry good i qualify for food stamps
as of lately we get a lot of short calls and that puts a strain on my life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be more personal when it comes to time off needed.

Current Employee - Sales Representative in Bloomington, MN

    Pros

Travel benefits, travel benefits, travel benefits!

    Cons

I do not feel valued as an employee, feel easily replaced. Leadership is lacking motivation skills and many direct managers micromanage. My department does not feel trusted and everything is checked and rechecked by our direct manager. It is a very negative environment, especially when speaking with the union groups. Benefits compensation are not very competitive with other companies and no tuition reimbursment is offered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the typical employee and follow other companys' leads on valuing the employee. It's getting better, but still can improve!

    Pros

You get excellent discounted or free travel opportunities and you will work in challenging industry gaining great work experience

    Cons

There is no job security and long term potential due to merger with Delta Airlines. Compensation is slightly below average compared to other companies of similar size.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Unfortunately, they want to sell the company so what advice can you give them?

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Strong history and brand; safety culture; "we can do it" attitude of employees.

    Cons

History and Brand and People not respected by Delta.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to "get the red out". DL technology is way behind NWA and there does not appear to be a culture of learning from those with something to offer. Asia-Pacific market has been significantly weakened due to DL's lack of attention to service. The "merger" is over - time to fix the people and operating issues.

    Pros

Very analytically oriented management - good experience for a young MBA grad coming out of school.

    Cons

Good ol' boys network - you HAVE to know someone to move up. Else, there are always the 20 year "analyst' veterans!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too bad you decided to sell out!
