    Run away from this place!

Weight Loss Counselor (Current Employee) Fort Washington, PA

ProsGood Pay, Good Co- Workers, Good PTO, Good Benefits

ConsYou are constantly monitored and micro managed, upper management and HR does not care about the employees in the call center, the department is run by inexperienced employees who are hand picked by the department supervisor, guidelines/ checklists/ metrics for the department are constantly changing, no room for growth, low employee morale, counselors have sales quotas & are required to sell products to clients or they risk being fired ( even though the company has a sales department), no sick days and you get occurances if you call out due to being sick, forced to work holidays if no one volunteers to work, dealing with rude customers, doing the job of 4 departments (counseling, sales, customer service, and IT ),...... AND LASTLY....forced to stay on the phone and continue working while the building has been threatened with a bomb!!!!

Advice to Senior ManagementStop micro managing!
Upper Management: actually visit the call center, listen to live calls and actually see what the reps (counselors, sales, customer service, etc) have to put up with on a daily basis.
Bring back sick days, and give employees holidays off.

Like witnessing a downward spiral of incompetence.

Weight-Loss Consultant (Former Employee) Fort Washington, PA

    ProsVery fair hourly wage.
Managed health care plan well enough.
Nice (annoyingly over-secured) new facility w/gym & locker rooms.
There WAS a very good staff in place before management was exposed as incompetent, then they quit or were laid off (while less tenured, less knowledgeable counselors were kept on).

ConsBeing embarrassed because I had more managerial experience then most (or all) of the Counseling Department supervisors combined.
CONSTANT employee turnover (at least 75% over three years).
Know-nothing department management became robotic and exceedingly micromanaging (virtually every SECOND of your time is accounted for).
Insecure management created an us-vs-them environment.
Department management's inability to develop & motivate the staff.
Employees are partially in the dark about new promotions and website changes because they're consistently rolled-out poorly.
What company has a Christmas Party that ONE-THIRD of the staff can't go to?

Advice to Senior ManagementGut the call center supervisory staff, most of whom were promoted because of their product knowledge (now mostly outdated), not because they had experience in managing people, leading or developing talent. Streamline the communication, hold the call center management accountable. Train and develop the staff better. I would've done this for you, but the Counseling Department thoroughly botched offering me even just a minor promotion.

It was like working on a roller coaster ride...

Inside Sales Supervisor (Former Employee) Fort Washington, PA

ProsAs a supervisor the benefits & salary w/commission was good 2-3 yrs ago.

ConsUnexperienced upper management and no communication. If you're not part of the butt kissers, you won't be there long. There is too much change everyday. It's hard to be on the same page when there is no communication.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire a real experienced upper management team. Tenure doesn't mean your qualified. Learn to think decisions from A-Z and not A-l so that the end results are positive.

Weight Loss?! Only Thing I Loss was my Mind!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Horsham, PA

ProsBenefits are pretty good. health, vision, dental, 401k , education reimbursement etc. But it's well deserved by all you have to deal with!

ConsManagement is unexperienced and doesn't care about how their constant ridiculous decisions affect the employees doing all the real work. Little to no respect for the employees. You get ahead at this company only when you're loud, unprofressional, obnoxious and inconsiderate of others.

Advice to Senior ManagementInstead of putting so much energy into "the customer 1st" approach, they need to concentrate on "the employee 1st" approach. Employee satisfaction = Customer satisfaction

Will never work for a company that sells a scam again.

Weight Loss Counselor (Former Employee) Horsham, PA

ProsPay was $15/hr and had flexible shifts. Decent benefits.

ConsSupervisors are inexperienced 20-somethings that only got management positions by kissing up to the other supervisors. They say they are offering "incentives" for when you push their crappy product on to people but then the employees never see them due to technicalities in their numbers. It's a call center where every minute of your time is monitored and you aren't really "counseling" people like they say you are.....you're just trying to get them to buy more product. Turnover is very high.

Advice to Senior ManagementNew Management is needed entirely.

    Job Stinks, Good Money

Program Consultant (Current Employee) Horsham, PA

ProsBenefits are good. Pay was excellent at first (on pace to make 90,000 first year) but job is very very easy to get burnt out on.

ConsHIGH rate of burn out. Company cares very little for its employees. Shady dealings w/ upper management. Employees often left in the dark on issues involving their pay and other serious issues. NO TIME OFF. Very inflexible w/ vacation requests.

Advice to Senior Managementmake more efforts to make your employees feel like more than a faceless person in a chair. The entire time I worked there the employee morale was TERRIBLE. the average turnover in this place is ~4-6 months if that tells you anything.

    Quite the learning experience...

    Sales Representative (Current Employee)

    Proscoworkers, benefits, and gym membership

Conscompensation, treatment from managment, no room for growth whatsoever

Advice to Senior Managementlearn from your inside sales/retention teams. Don't just look away and not tailor to their needs, so a positive change can actually start to happen within Nutrisystem.

Employees are abused, neglected and have poor morale

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Prosmostly in-house contact center operations (not out-sourced)
generally nice facility with gym, cafe, and lounge areas
with everyone jumping ship there are plenty of open opportunities for current employees to step into

    Consdisconnect between departments
    people in marketing department favored
hard work is not rewarded or recognized
shoddy work is rewarded and recognized
    general lack of good leadership
annual review process seems to change each year
    favoritism for raises and promotions
    unchecked nepotism
hr is unable to keep quiet
    poor celebrity management

Advice to Senior ManagementThink things through before implementation. Don't just throw things at the wall to see what sticks. Quit relying on promotions to "save the quarter". Put money into R&D to develop new and better products instead of trying to reinvent the same product. Work on finding relevant celebrities that have actually lost weight on the program (and not some old formulation of it).
