    Pros

My manger was one of the best managers I have ever had.

    Cons

Most of the upper management have never worked out side of the walls of O'Reilly and have no idea of what the real world is like. They have great people working for them but never pay them what they are worth. They talk about show me and I will take care of you. They talk a good game but they do not back it up.

    Advice to Management

Stop building and put that money into your people. Raise pay and train your field and store teams and they will show you how much they will do for you. You will make all your goals and then a lot more, when you start taking care of you people.

    Pros

-most managers are capable of working with schedules that are hectic (other jobs/school) -lowest pay is about 9.20 -easy job just like any other retail but helps if you have automobile knowledge -easy job if your in college just don't advance from a driver or regular counter person

    Cons

-advancing in the company is uber competetive -to advance you pretty much need to wait for some one to get fed up and quit then replace them -most stores are a mess behind on daily duties and managers scramble their minimal workforce to care for it -some weeks you'll get overtime but to keep you under 30 hours on average you will be getting 18 hours other weeks(if you're lucky) -the higher you move in the company the more ridiculous the expectations are

    Advice to Management

If you are finding yourself always behind and never enough employees to take care of customers take a step back and figure out a way with the staff to fix your problems instead of letting them get worse.

    Pros

There is a lot of happy people working there. Its a fun and exciting company if you really enjoy the automotive industry. They make understanding the complex automotive systems simple for people who might not be as knowledgeable. If you have the rite Store Manager in place, it will be a great place to work. As with the majority of retail careers, leadership can make or break a store.

    Cons

If they have decided they don't want you anymore, the corporate offices will team up with district managers to do everything they can to make your career unpleasant. I understand with some people they do this as a result of poor performance, but more often than not its due to aspects that shouldn't make a difference. Recently they brought a "star" sales person into a store, who got repeatedly out sold by an existing team member. So they fired him, and had to create multiple stories as they kept coming up short on their proof for termination. Do your research before joining the O'reilly team, you will discover many stories of them trying their best to fire team members who are preforming at or above expectation.

    Advice to Management

Take away the new commission pay. Its hurting your people! Create a better training system for front line employees, and most importantly the leadership who supports them.
