Great experience, lots of learning, lots of fun.

Parts Specialist (Former Employee) Provo, UT

ProsLearn a lot about cars, work with people all day. The training they provide on cars and service are very informative-- you learn the basics of a car's inner workings. Working with people all day is very rewarding-- you get to problem solve and fix things, find solutions for customers-- it's not just stocking, selling, and restocking. And many of the fun problems you encounter are people doing custom home-brew jobs, restorations, etc.

ConsThe pay isn't amazing, and opportunities for moving up, or making more, are pretty limited. It's a pretty decent student job, or part-time gig, but if you want to go full-time, be prepared to stick with the job for several years before that even becomes a possibility.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit treating stores like underlings, and instead, more like team members. Remember the key to leadership is followship. Consult with store managers rather than just slashing their hours/payroll percentage-- especially in stores that struggle with walk-ins-- some stores get no walk-ins. Other stores get more than all the other stores combined.

Good place to work if you know the right people.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Springfield, MO

ProsMost everyone is friendly and willing to help. Stable job field that will always have a need and is thriving based on growth.

ConsCompensation for the workload is below average and are only willing to give the minimum percentage increase each year on evaluations, even if you've always been a Box 4 team member.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease be aware that your upper management does not follow the recommended base pay information HR publishes. How they are able to get away with paying up to 20% less than the standard hourly wage is beyond me. This is not right especially if you are trying to provide for a family. Your employees should not need government assistance if the company continually boasts about how team member oriented they are but are only willing to give the minimum increase at your review each year. It's hard to boost morale when your upper management doesn't fairly compensate for the work they expect you to accomplish. The need for benefits is what drives a majority of the team members to keep going.

    Great company to work for

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe hourly pay isn't the greatest but it you work your spiffs and sell a lot, you can make a decent hourly wage

ConsThe customers..... there a lot of DIY "mechanics" out there and they can be quite rude and sometimes disrespectful......

Advice to Senior ManagementFind a way to force newer employees to sit down and watch the training modules.... Too many just skip through it and do the test..... I did it at first but once i started sitting down and watching them, i learn A LOT!

Parts Specialist/Service Advisor (Current Employee) Orange, CA

ProsYou can learn a lot from working there and make some good connections for getting your car fixed.

Consemployees are not a team and more focused on how much everyone else is making and not willing to work together to make things easier on each other as a whole.

Advice to Senior ManagementAn important role in being a manager is to set standards for your employees to follow and to know what is expected of them individually and as a whole. this will also set the standards for working as a team and increase production, profit, and effectiveness.
