    Pros

    it used to be a lot of fun with various team building events like minigolf tournaments and office olympics. people are friendly

    Cons

    it became very corporate, less focus on employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Remember "if we take care of our people, the company takes care of itself"

    Pros

    It's a job, pretty much guaranteed 40 plus hours, colleagues are knowledgable

    Cons

    Can't seem to keep the quality employees, management is somewhat "lazy"... Personally I have to pick up ALOT of slack do to scheduling issues on top off call offs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need more competent managers.... I was previously a manager at a restaurant similar to to the this restaurants theme. None of the managers at my location would last there do to poor performance and knowledge. I believe that my location in particular needs to add another manager.

    Pros

    meet new people, network, great discounts, benefits available, decent/moderate income. Hospitality and customer service are always great skills to aquire.

    Cons

    It's growing wildly but making horrific budget cuts. The managers/kitchen staff are all overworked and burnt out. Holidays are insane, and the restaurant doesn't turn tables well enough to handle the volume.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take some initiative with the corporate structure for each store to maintain it's intended feel of a privately owned establishment, instead of a "chain." And take a day off! You're all cranky!

    Pros

    Very laid back atmosphere. Fun place to work. Great people. Spend money on technology. Trying to improve their operations. Ideas are taken into account (sometimes).

    Cons

    Departments are too siloed. Each department is treated completely different. Lack of communication. Lack of truly caring about what their employees go through to get the job done. At times there are no clue as to what some people do or departments for that matter. Salary is way off base for some.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Improve communication, get rid of the poor performers, change up management a bit, get a feel for what employees actually do in their jobs. Fix the job titles and then adjust the salaries accordingly.

    The company culture is fun as there is a large focus on employees. There are often events in the entire office for all departments such as office olympics

    Cons

    unfortunately t there's a lot of frustration with partners and various departments. Accountants often feel like secretaries with accounting degrees

    Give the accountants less stores and let them focus more on financial analysis then on completing a number of stores

    Pros

    -Big checks equal big tips
    -Getting time off is easy
    -Great discounts
    -New building (new heating/cooling)
    -Looks great on resumes
    -Job is pretty clean

    There's alot of pros that make the job seem enticing. The problem lies in the cons. They're few, but they're big ones.

    Cons

    -The staff is used to complaining. They do it regularly to the point of insanity.
    -The "deals" make it great for the customers but encourage a cheaper clientele to dine and tip less.
    -The operating partner (franchise owner) sets unrealistic goals, insults his employees when stressed, and completely lacks managerial ability even though he is there regularly.
    -Management is pushy and micromanages to the point of frustration.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Trust your employees more. They know how to do their jobs.

    Pros

    Outback Steakhouse is national company so it is easy to transfer locations within the company. There are many national marketing campaigns and programs initiated by corporate and there is a lot of support from corporate. Almost everyone I know in management started bussing tables or waiting tables so there is definitely promotion from within.

    Cons

    If you are working as part of the waitstaff you are assigned 2-3 table sections which does not allow you to make as much money as you would at other restaurants. Although, if you are strong you can pick up other tables during your shift. As with any restaurant, things can be unorganized due to the nature of the flow of the day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Outback corp does look for employees who shine and will advance those who do. Managers often started as bussers or waitstaff.
