I have been working at Ocean Properties (more than an year)

    Pros

Few. Some of the people you meet are nice enough, but nobody lasts long enough to really form bonds with

    Cons

Say goodbye to any kind of social life, relationships, and family. You are expected to be at the beck and call of the hotel. Also, get used to being broke. There is a reason why 90% of staff is on some form of government assistance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay people what they are worth, concentrate on the core of people who know their jobs, and stop the revolving door of know nothing employees

I worked at Ocean Properties full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You do get to work in nice locations. Sometimes the employee housing is nice, sometimes not. You get to meet a lot of people, however most in the F&B industry are drunks. If you like to get hammered and sexually harassed with your boss, this is for you!

    Cons

The owners all the way down the management team legitimately don't care about the staff or the customer as long as the money keeps rolling in. This came from the mouth of someone in the actual family. No training whatsoever. They pay their managers 12$ an hour so they act bitter towards the servers who make more, and generally speaking, know more than them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to the people who face your customers daily. If they aren't happy, it projects to your customers. Really look at some of the people you have in charge. You are headed in the wrong direction.

I have been working at Ocean Properties full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

At the properties I have worked the General Manager has been a true leader and has made the hotels a great place to work.

    Cons

No benefits and very low pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to Upper management:: A competative advantage is aquired through it's human capital. You should really look in to how you treat the front line employee and consider making some stategic changes. No direct deposit? You sell medical benifits that are not beneficial at all. (a cash paying customer or welfare recepiant is better off). Your payroll system is working off of New Hampshire tax laws but we live and work in Forida which caused complications at tax time. It really appears that you do not care which makes many people wonder why should they? The one positive thing you have in your corner is one particular GM and others around the company which makes a tolerable place for some and a great place for others.

I have been working at Ocean Properties

    Pros

good personal ties and benefits, basically it's a LARGE company run by a very SMALL family so it's not a matter of how well you do, but who knows your name.

    Cons

exactly what i just said, it's not a matter of how good you are, it's simply who knows you and that will make or break your entire career within the biased company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

when mid-level and supervision positions arise, try hiring from inside of your own company with people that actually have previous experience working in the field, not just some clueless person that had an internship in a local burger joint for a semester.
