-Definitely more customer oriented after merger
-The spiffs were pretty useless, but could add a few dollars per week

    Cons

    -Obviously can get busy
    -Poor technology

I have been working at OfficeMax part-time for less than a year

    Pros

constant customer service, you get a foreground of sales and what it initials. Stepping stone for other jobs. Hours were good, just know that it is part time so your not going to get major hours. BUT the hours i got were about 50 hours every check. So job wise it was stable. I didn't slack off. When you slack, you aren't seen as a priority. You want them to notice when your working or not. What i mean is that you want to be known as "one of the good ones" that they always want working because your so good at your job

    Cons

Management wasn't stable, always changed managers. Within almost the first year, i am at my third manager. Good guy, very friendly. Works with you if your in school.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be confident in sales, push yourself , be self motivated and don't doubt yourself. Sales is just the way you word things. Just keep having perseverance, its a learning process! Always have to start somewhere!

I worked at OfficeMax full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Compensation was good, and most of the people were great. Company was getting mature -- ARGs were a great idea. The stores were actually well done and attractive. Employees received in-store benefits. HQ folks generally had decent hours -- not a lot of "death marches".

    Cons

Would have benefited from better project governance and portfolio management.
Consultant project teams were just so-so. Needed better selection and definitely better oversight.
    Depot merger...

I have been working at OfficeMax part-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Flexible scheduling for those in high school and college as well as chances to transfer if need be.

    Cons

It is not a place for those who get stressed out easily. There is also little recognition for those who have been there for more than just a few years.
