    I worked at Omnicell

    Pros

    People were very friendly and easily approachable. The culture was very relaxed, but when you have to meet deadlines, there are long work days.

    Cons

    Often times, there would be team conflicts. This would put you in a very difficult situation if you are in the middle of it.

    Great exec team; great software

    Cons

    Attention to stock price has downstream consequences; unable to truly compete in large hospital systems; strategic accounts team is puny compared to Carefusion.

    Increase brand awareness; be more willing to sacrifice margin in order to compete on key deals

    Pros

    Friendly culture overall - great founder and CEO

    Cons

    Very hierarchial culture - with the feedback of employees not sought or paid attention to. Extremely high turnover in certain functions. Lot of growth but company slow in investing in the infrastructure to manage the growth. No seat at the table for rank and file employees

    Nice working environment. Nice people. A lot of people have been staying with the company for a long time. Flexible work time.

    A little hard for new people to blend in. Lack of career growth opportunities or development. Lack of innovation culture.

    My manager was open-door, pay was good, opportunity to learn new software and skills

    Cons

    Constant shifting of responsibilities creates confusion when not planned for at all, training for a completely new position was not a priority for management but not completing unknown tasks unacceptable, background check on hire was unorganized

    Allow questions from subordinates when making major changes so answers to potential issues can be addressed, especially when you are unaware of what the subordinates do.

    Pros

    Rapidly growing customer base. Majority of employees are very qualified, smart, and go beyond the call for their customers.

    Cons

    Difficult for upper Management to keep up with the pace with growth, thus making it difficult for other employees. Hard to find time to take off, due to backup issues and they always ask for more. Sometimes very overwhelming when you add in hours of travel to customer accounts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Respect the people who are in front of the customer representing the company many times a day. When the front line asks for something, they need it and need it now. I recommend quick response, and follow-up for the sake of the company and customer. Upper management seem like cheerleaders instead of managers and only care about making the sale.

    Pros

    The people are great to work with- most have open door policy and are easy to approach. Headquarter is in a great location for commuters in the bay area, right in front of light rail station. Also located close to major highways, easy to get to.

    Cons

    Turn over appears to be frequent for some departments and salary increases are marginal at best. The company is constantly changing direction which takes time for some departments to keep caught up. But the constant change in direction is probably to respond to changing market environment.

    Pros

    All the engineers are helpful in getting people on board. The company is value based, so people who contribute the most value are the most recognized.

    Cons

    The technology stack is very old, and it is also a Microsoft shop. Getting things done in legacy code is usually slow and error-prone because of the age and size of the code base.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I honestly do not know what you can do. I understand that Omnicell needs to consistently add value to the customer, but engineers are not happy with the current code base. The problems the engineers solve (in my opinion) are not that exciting and it seems like we are losing out in top engineering hires.
