I have been working at Opera Solutions

    Pros

Good Work-life balance (That's it). Nothing else is spectacular about Opera Solutions India

    Cons

Very High Attrition (upto 75%) for IIT Hires in India, as a result no good managers are left, only mediocre leadership is left at the firm. A lot of discrimination between US and India Employees (promotions, work-life balance, responsibility), NO Travel for majority of the India office, Every few months people say the company will improve but all efforts go down the drain. Dearth of projects (half the office sits unstaffed), no opportunities for growth. Was once a good consulting firm, but this new data analytics space that they want to function out of is totally in the air!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to your employees - lot of insecurity out there, improve the office culture, hire managers and leaders

    Pros

None. The COOs do deals that make no sense and only prop up their own egos.

    Cons

Are known for not paying people for untaken vacation time when laid off or fired - whick is illegal. The COOs are famous for running people into the ground and then firing them. The current theory is they have compromising photos of the board otherwise they'd be fired. No one knows why they're still allowed to be there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Close your doors.

I have been working at Opera Solutions

    Pros

Not sure. I like to find the good in everything but it would be a stretch here.

    Cons

Management lacks emotional intelligence. Attrition is so high you meet someone one week, they are gone the next. No one seems to know who does what. Internal process is cumbersome and absurd. People walk around with scowls on their face. I would be very afraid to come here unless you are desperate for work and have no other options.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe the new CEO will change things but it wont happen soon. I would look very closely at management.....

I have been working at Opera Solutions full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible working hours, Friday lunch and informal atmosphere

    Cons

All negative - 0% transparency, Upper management is horrible and doing politics especially in s/w, no year end increment only on promotion, no technical people on upper management side. Earlier it was more then 50 folks in s/w now it is less then 30 and no recruitment. your future in hand of upper management (no 360 feedback).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please remove upper management and hire some talented technical managers.

    Pros

Where to start !!!!! Except flex hours I see no positive in this company

    Cons

You can write best seller on it
There is hardly one happy client with successful implementation. Just like any other consulting firm good at talking.
Lately with very low moral among employee, started paying bonus .. How about $100 !!! .. it is absolute ridiculous Most of the doers are juniors and are left to figure out solution on "Google". Join only if you are desperate for job
Last two years absolutely downhill with no brakes and waiting for crash

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of free Drinks and Food, focus on delivery quality and invest in your current work force to bring them up to speed. Also share the truth and do not sell bogus dreams.

    Pros

Smart coworkers, very global so you get to interact across every time zone possible often in the same day, new CEO who is just begging for someone to lead so great opportunity to look smart even if you have no clue, high turnover allows for ample opportunity for those with no experience to try out senior roles and pad their resumes for the next gig.

    Cons

Everybody who is smart is leaving so fast that you may not have enough time to update your linked in profile before the next job search. Benefits change every year so you can't possibly figure out if your getting screwed unless you compare them to normal companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the games you are playing with people's lives you haven't done a thing for employees over the past two years and you seem more intent on screwing people over than actually building a business please stop and for once treat employees with respect perhaps you could take some sensitivity training since you are basically rehashing the same failing strategy year over year so you must have some free time.

I have been working at Opera Solutions full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Some interesting projects, nice views from the office, currently there is probably a good opportunity for advancement given the mass exodus (very, very, very high attrition recently)

    Cons

There aren't very many good people left, the vast majority of the employee base (~90%) has been at Opera for < 2 years, no culture, shady moves by mgmt, inability to staff projects sufficiently given the high attrition = very high risk of not being able to deliver current engagements and recently sold engagements (clients beware), very bad benefits

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a new job - everyone else is looking, so should you (you probably already are)
