I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Where you Work at Oracle (what division and team) is critical to your experience AS WELL as your manager. Some divisions are better to work for than others but it is critical you interview with your would-be manager and get a good idea what he/she is about and their expectations. One of the best things is that the benefits are some of the best I have seen in 15 years.

    Cons

    >A lot of "resting and vesting" - You will hear about the "80/20" real at Oracle. 20% of the people are doing 80% of the work while the other 80% are on a near permanent vacation.
    >Difficult to work between departments
    >Old, outdated computers/networking make it hard to keep up with more nimble companies using Saas-based working platforms
    >No bonuses
    >Difficult to move up unless you know the right people

    Pros

    Great place to learn
    Select areas have smart people

    Cons

    -Bureaucratic, manage up mentality
-Teams operate as tribes, in silos within each empire
-Takes years to get acquainted with the ecosystem and key people, leadership is out of reach.
    -Highly complicated internal processes
-Higly user unfriendly internal processes - takes long for new employees to ramp-up; internal technologies used are archaic in places.
    - Performance appraisal system is iffy - employees can go for years without bonuses or salary raises despite healthy corporate performance, employees known to get title promotions without salary raises.

Great place to launch and go or join in the later years of your career; not so much for the in-between years.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    - work/life balance
    - job security
    - remote employment supported and quite common
    - benefits
    - training
    - huge company so the variety of career paths available is wide open

    Cons

Employee Retention, Growth and overall morale
    - raises are few and far between (years) and very low (1-2%)
    - bonuses are virtually non-existent (and again, very low)
    - all transfers are lateral (no promotion, no increase even when taking on greater responsibility after adding years of experience in your previous role).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Programs for employee retention, compensation reviews, performance based increases & bonuses, and "real" promotions are desperately needed.

Oracle serves as a great launch pad for those entering the job market (Oracle invests time and expense of training/mentoring promising talent just to have them jump ship after 1-2 years in search of fair compensation and reward) - or - as a great place for those at the end of their career path who are just seeking job security and waiting out their retirement.

There is no incentive, no energy, no spark to cultivate loyalty.

I have been working at Oracle

    Pros

If you sell, you will be rewarded. EMO sales reps can make $300k+ if they are really good. Or more. My boss makes $500k per year.

    Cons

Not smart people, very political, all people care about is money, no women, if you get a bad patch it's bad. Terrible culture.

    Pros

Great perks, especially for a recent college graduate
    Good salary
    Looks good on resume

    Cons

They appear to exclusively hire people from the Greek system in terms of the recent college graduate pool.
    Really push sales

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't be so biased

I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Overall good company to work for. There is a mixture of great talents and unqualified souls in this company. Great opportunity to learn different technologies and processes.

    Cons

There are no mid year reviews to provide feedback. The reviews are not in depth and they almost feel like they are done out of formality. Managers do not provide clear and realistic feedback regarding the employes performance.

Managers need to take management training to handle adverse situations more skilfully. Managers, Directors and senior management should do less sucking up to each other for job security and pay more attention to their responsibilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The yearly review process needs improvement. Employees should be treated well to put out better loyalty and best performance. Employees should be able to review their managers to provide an incentive for managers to exercise their best judgment.
