  1. For a telco, the lack of internal communication is startling

    Pros

A pretty good number PTOs after one year of working here. Overall benefits are decent. Strict office hours makes it ok to leave early. (5.30pm) The company has money, so some can find budget to do stuff. Smart people.

    Cons

You're not working on any real products and you don't have any real customers. The overall vision and goal for the lab is not made clear by management. A lot of internal politics, between here and the French offices, as well as between groups here too, which is scary. Projects actually survive depending on what management likes but also who is involved in the US and in France. Strict office hours. (can be a constraint) Bonus system is opaque and convoluted. (your actual performance doesn't actually influence your bonus much compared to seniority and other mysterious things that management and HR decide) It seems that a lot of people have been here a long long time and are just content with the situation, knowing how to navigate the internals of the company.

    Advice to Management

Employees like independence but some vision is necessary, especially when there are no products to work on directly and no customers to talk to.

    Pros

Good job in term of nature of activities, challenges and perspective. Working for fast growing market is also very interesting

    Cons

Bad Top Management No clear procedures Very French company: Processes are not the same for French people and "Others"

    Advice to Management

It is important to standardize the processes to be a multinational company. It is also important to well choose the Top managers / responsible for the local entities to avoid abuse and bad management style.
