    Account Manager (Current Employee)

ProsThe Company has great name recognition, but it is not held in the same regard as it used to be. Great employee scholarship program.

ConsAccount manager position is held responsible for everything that goes wrong and has no way to fix issues. If accounts cancel they take it out of your commission.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on providing what you say you will. You cannot charge extra for value that is not there.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

If your young and dumb, work here...

Manufacturing Floor Associate (Former Employee) Bloomfield, CT

ProsTuition benefits, work life balance. "Some" nice people to work with.

ConsLower management has you watching over your shoulder with one eye and your work with the other. Floor Associates are a number and that is all management cares about, the bottom line. Lots of excuses(lies) to keep raises low. A lot of age discrimination, especially to Americans by foreign bosses that think their butts don't stink because they have a college degree. Temps are treated even worse, the bottom of the barrel. There is a high turnover rate of very good employees, including Temps. It's sad that upper and middle management allow this to happen. Quality would greatly improve by keeping the good ones that take pride in what they do. Would also help to train those that need it and allow a reasonable learning curve. I have worked at other UTC companies prior to this one, and this by far has been my worst experience.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake your eyes off your savings and stock portfolio for a while and take a good look at the backbone of your people. Moral is low and the ship is sinking.

The Head's Not Connected to the Neck Bone

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat people on the local level; highly skilled and dedicated. The folks in Bloomington care about the Company and want it to succeed - or did, until they were shut out over and over and over again.

ConsThe biggest, messiest, most ridiculous restructuring anyone could ever imagine. Everyone is running toward the finish line for dear life, but they can't SEE a finish line - it keeps moving. There are no maps. There are no answers. Just RUN for dear life, RUN, all of you! Short-sighted decisions being made that will have a long-range impact on the Company, with shockingly little value placed on the skill or input of long-time, devoted, employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt's too late. You wouldn't listen before - don't ask now. Just grab a mop and clean up as best you can. Good luck with that.

    Sales account management

Service Sales Representative (Current Employee) Minneapolis, MN

ProsPay is nice, $50k+ depending on experience. Okay benefits, vast array of resources available to help you perform your job. Job training is okay. Standard processes for everything.

ConsMICROMANAGED TO A T. HIgh stress, constant challenges, technical equipment, long hours. Hard to sell OTIS value when the product is very similar to the competition.

Advice to Senior ManagementPraise on a job well done. Employee appreciation days, less micromanagement, high more adminstrative staff in local branches (pay part time worker to file and fetch documents needed by mgr and reps.
