I worked at Our365 full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed photographing baby and being able to interact with the families.

    Cons

I worked in a VERY busy hospital and there are suppose to be 2 photographers working at all times. 70% of the time, the 2nd photographer does not show up and I am left by myself to handle the hospital. Since this is a purely commission based job, this could be a really good thing (more sales, more money!). The problem is, it was impossible to reach all of the mom's in a given day. Sometimes I can roll them over for the morning, but this just added to the vicious cycle of never being able to finish. Usually, this is something I would be able to handle, especially if the money was there. The problem was, the hospital I worked at was for a very LOW INCOME area. Most families did not buy pictures even if they wanted to because they just didn't have the money. I've had people run around trying to find enough change within a group of family members to buy the cheapest item I had in the catalog. I was able to make a decent amount of money since there were so many babies to photograph. Then... the company decided to give away 1 free photo to try and promote more families at least do the free photo shoot (as if I was sitting around twiddling my thumbs not having enough babies to photograph!). This was what broke me. I couldn't keep up with the demand, we weren't getting more photographers to help cover the rooms, and since they're getting a free photo, sales dropped dramatically. I was constantly getting hounded my district manager that I couldn't leave until all babies have been photographed. Coming in at 7 am and leaving at 7-8 pm 5 days a week with terrible payouts was really just too much for me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would have been nice if the managers actually showed that they cared. I'd call them when the other photographer didn't show up and I needed help but it would go straight to voice mail. I never got my calls returned. I just had to fend for myself. I only got a call when I was being yelled at for not finishing all of the rooms.

I worked at Our365 part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

If you love babies and photography this is a great part-time job.

    Cons

Commission only. District Manager expects you to return emails to team and trainers off the clock, at home. If there are no babies to be photographed on your scheduled shift you will not make money on that day. If you are legitimately ill, and do your best to get a teammate to cover your shift, But cannot, the District Manager will demand you go into the hospital to work your shift and photograph the new born babies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Being a bully is not a characteristic of great leadership skills. If an employee is legitimately ill they should not be forced to work their shift and contaminate a new born baby (and the mother). An hourly wage should be enforced along with commission to cover slow shifts and working after hours returning emails and submitting reports.

I have been working at Our365 full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Manage several part time employees, Hire, Train ect.
Manage Hospital Accounts, Meeting with Directors, Cold call for new accounts and continue to make current Accounts happy
    Photography of babies
    Benefits, 401k (not matched), vacation

    Cons

Pay does not weigh well vs other similar Mangement Position.
    No Local support for management
    On call 24/7 365 days a year
High Pressure to maintian numbers that are unrealistic and unachieveable
Pretty much work yourself to death, have no family life and get paid little to do it
Little aprreciation and no understanding from upper management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at Google and see why their employee satisfaction is so good!
We work in healthcare facilites.... Isnt there some way we can provide better benefits as well as child care for our employees. There also needs to be some Assistant Managers in Districts so that the District Managers can turn their phones off once in a while with out having to worry about coverage and hospital complaints on a "day off".

    Pros

Okay, so you get to see newborn babies all day! That was the greatest part! Good pay if you know how to sell sell sell!

    Cons

This is NOT a photography job! There is no creative freedom. You go off of a pose guide. The sales technique is old fashioned. When I say old fashioned I mean you are pretty much forcing people to buy, not giving them more affordable options that they could better use.

I have been working at Our365

    Pros

If you like making people happy then the upside to working as a Newborn Photographer is thrilling and celebratory.

    Cons

Periodically, you will travel to your assigned hospital with the result of no babies to photograph. Since most hospitals require you to arrive in the morning you have the rest of the day free. Not good if you don't work elsewhere. Management requires you to be available 5 days per week, the hours vary depending on how many babies were born, and which are given clearance by the parents to be photographed. The pay is commission based so sometimes its a gamble. Who can work for no pay?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Desist in using strong arming tactics in regards to hospital coverage if an employee is ill and cannot work on a scheduled shift.

I have been working at Our365

    Pros

Learning a bit more about basic photography; making parents happy with beautiful pictures; benefits although you're part-time.

    Cons

I have only been with the company a short time (hired 1 month ago) and I have already been sent to a very low producing hospital an hour away to train someone! I was told that I was their savior and would only be at this hospital for a month, but I'm not so sure. There should be better compensation. I'm not 100% confident in my OWN training yet, much less, ready to train someone else! And if you get a chance to talk to any other grunts (fellow photographers) they will undoubtedly express their dissatisfaction, or let you know they're leaving and it's their last day!
