    Pros

Ownership mentality, great bonus program, hands on.

    Cons

No room to think outside the box

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to the basics that got you to the top. Stop discounting and trying to play the same game as the applebees and chilis out there.

I have been working at Outback Steakhouse full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

They promote from within. Great fun people to work with and money is pretty good. Shift goes by quickly and they are good about requests off.

    Cons

If BOH goes down, which it did many times, your screwed. Sometimes they overstaffed or understaffed. Sometimes you don't get a break if you work a double shift

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The owner needs to be around more

I worked at Outback Steakhouse part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Excellent team atmosphere. Those who were dedicated to great service and making the most money in their section or bar were the people that shined and had priority in scheduling and section. Food was affordable so it was easy to upsell ad ons and 22 oz beers. The kitchen staff was consistent and friendly my entire time there. Management was always helpful, if you were a hard worker they would do anything to accommodate your needs.

    Cons

When I was a server I wish I could have a larger section.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep everything consistent with the culture and quality of employees.

I worked at Outback Steakhouse full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people were absolutely the best to work with. The mangers treat you fairly and actually listen to the employees. It is a team work experience that becomes like family.

    Cons

The hours are crazy. They are constantly understaffed so doubles almost everyday was a constant problem.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire more people.

I worked at Outback Steakhouse part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You get a chance to work in an upbeat environment, there is the added benefit of having flexible scheduling (that is, you can swap shifts with co-workers), and there is a pretty good opportunity for advancement over a relatively short period of time.

    Cons

The hours that are required are often long, you are on your feet in a fast-paced environment, and of course you are dealing with customers complaints.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on making sure that employees feel appreciated. There is a lot of BS from the type of customers that a chain restaurant attract that they have to put up with on a regular basis and it can leave them incredibly stressed out.
