    Pros

Invest in employees growth and have better than average compensation. Lots of opportunity for advancement. Great culture and global exposure.

    Cons

Switch key management positions often which then changes who they want on their team. Good performers often get let go when new manager brings in their team.

Former Employee - FLDP Intern in Toledo, OH

I worked at Owens Corning as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Intern pay was very good and was able to become friends with kids from many different schools. Mike Thamen, CEO, is a great leader and has made great decisions for the direction of the company.

    Cons

The finance department hired close to 20 interns and only offers 5 or 6. If you are looking for a company to offer you a full time position after an interview there are better options, however it will open up a large amount of opportunities after the internship.

I have been working at Owens Corning full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The people you get to work with are great and for the most part the higher ups do a good job in making sure your work gets visibility and they give credit, where credit is due.

    Cons

Parts of the organization are pretty political which inhibits getting things done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the politics and the leadership that refuses to listen to anyone from a lower pay grade.

    Pros

Good safety culture from corporate, great people to work with within the plant, friendly environment, good benefits, comparable pay, challenging tasks

    Cons

Poor communication, pushes employees into jobs they don't want, poor business management- hire then cut back and lay off, lack of policy enforcement, hard to prmooted from primary employee to salary employee,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The primary employees you have are very talented. Look to them when trying to promote. Also, work on communication throughout plants, from plant to plant, and from corporate to plant level.

    Pros

Great people who are very knowledgable and easy to work with. Bosses are very focused on personal development. A lot of opportunity within the company.

    Cons

Not many. Working in a plant sometimes demands strange hours. Must be somewhat flexible to work in a plant setting.

I have been working at Owens Corning (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Leaders continue to challenge you and take you outside your comfort zone to help you develop. The employees are extremely caring and have high work standards. It's easy to stand to behind our products as they truly make the world a better place.

    Cons

Company needs to take more risks and allow employees to fail to help them grow and develop. The pay for performance methodology can get in the way of a good team environment.

    Pros

•Huge focus on health and safety
    •Strong brand recognition
•Beautiful campus and great community commitment
•Many growth and development opportunities, but expect to search them out.

    Cons

•Not enough training which leads to a lot of miscommunication.
•Leadership doesn't always focus on big picture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Owens Corning full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Management is very focused on your development, and growth. When you have gained the experience in a role, management is receptive to shifting your role. Upper management wants to develop talent internally... Especially if you would intend to remain in the Toledo Ohio area long term.

    Cons

While very development focused, high structure can mean you wind up in a role you do not desire to be in for a period of time.
