    Management is A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been working at Owens & Minor full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Hours.Pay rate is not bad.

    Cons

Management is very Toxic, dishonest. and things are swept under the carpet, lot of backstabbing goes on. But, Like the Los Angeles office.Management repeats confidential information that should remain in the Corporate office. However, Great Parties when supposed to be working.

Some great people, but out-of-touch senior management and outdated, paternalistic culture.

    I worked at Owens & Minor full-time

    Pros

Lots of awesome people willing to go the extra mile! Beautiful HQ building and lots of in-house classes at company "university" to expand your knowledge.

    Cons

Although touted as a place for career growth, there are actually few internal promotions. The culture is focused on teaming, but there is considerable back-stabbing. Top management is out of touch with current employment practices. Still very much a white-male-dominated culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees by preparing them for future roles and taking promotion risks, so people don't have to leave the company for growth. Evaluate top leaders objectively to see where changes could drastically improve the culture.

I worked at Owens & Minor full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with in a pretty laid back environment most days. A lot of fun to be had while completing your duties. Travel opportunities.

    Cons

Not a good work-life balance, long hours with no set time to get off. While management preaches teamwork there is nothing at all done to promote it. They are constantly trying to pit you against one another. Your pay will basically stay the same forever unless you get a promotion to another title, witch will only happen if you suck up to the right person. No matter how you perform or what sacrifices you make for the company in the end do not care about anything but there bottom line.

    Practice what you preach!

I have been working at Owens & Minor full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Nice Location, 10 min. driver

    Cons

if you speak up you are blacklisted and they will try to get rid of you, workers are afraid, company disregards and constantly breaks labor laws. HQ needs to back the workers and respect them. People have been let go on false facts over the past 2 years and HQ allows this

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start at the office and clean house and not by anyone that works at this Tracy Location. Need to be honest and watch what is really going on.

Friendly company but only mediocrity and friendships are rewarded

Current Employee - Senior Analyst in Mechanicsville, VA
Current Employee - Senior Analyst in Mechanicsville, VA

I have been working at Owens & Minor full-time

    Pros

Very friendly environment with lots of ammenities including gym, auto detailing and cleaners.

    Cons

Only mediocrity is rewarded. Too many political and personal issues for this company to make a real change and significantly advance and prepare for the future. Moreover, there are too many people in managerial and director positions not based on merit but relationships. As a result, many departments are improperly managed as the heads do not understand the industry or their own job functions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get past the political drama before all of your good talent leaves the company as a result of poor compensation, unfit management and few opportunities for advancement.

Former Employee - Assistant Vice President in Kansas City, MO

I worked at Owens & Minor full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Solid business experience. Large ticket, complex sale. Solid understanding of P&L to be successfully.

    Cons

Upper management constant change does more to derail business than help business grow. Needs to find new growth engine and not try to make it fit into four walls of the distribution business to be successful. Distribution is a commodity. Diversify!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Top leadership team needs fresh ideas to grow. Core top leaders are victims of groupthink and spin the same old ideas over again and again.
