I have been working at Owens & Minor

    Pros

It's great for a single person who is not married and has no kids. A lot of Overtime Mandatory. ( it's there second name )
    Great pay and great benefits.

    Cons

They give you points and treat you like crap if you call in sick or injured. Even if you have a doctor's notes stating the reason and cause. They do not care about you as much as they claim to. It's all about they don't give a care, they only want bodies to fill orders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a look at the incident or situation and determine what is valid reason to give a person points or let them use other personal or vacation time.

I worked at Owens & Minor full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I work there for over a year. Good working schedule. Friendly work environment. Good pay for a warehouse job. Good medical benefits. I enjoyed working for the company. I would have stayed if there were room for advancement.

    Cons

There is not much room for advancement for a warehouse worker. There are not many positions for promotion. This makes it impossible to have a career there. I left because of this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create an working environment with more career progression for employees

    Pros

You have lots of freedom, you own your own business and have respect from buyers and others at hospitals.

    Cons

It can be a challenge to grow your commissions each month due to so many GPO contracts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I feel management is doing a good job at local DC, however C suites might need to rethink their goals and objectives for Wall Street investors.

I worked at Owens & Minor full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The teammates at O&M are great. They are the foundation of the company and many of them take pride in being O&M employees. It is great getting to connect with people in distribution centers all across the country and the customers we serve. They offer internal training/classes through OMU and are big fans and supporters of continued education.

    Cons

O&M has changed over the years and their focus on the important things has slipped by the wayside. There is too much focus on the politics instead of the company and what it was founded on. It no longer has that "family" feel that it once had.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management would benefit by listening to the employees...the everyday workers that do the work that keeps O&M's customers happy and keeps the company at the forefront of the industry. There are too many chiefs making decisions without true knowledge of what the Indians are encountering everyday. Listen to the regular people. You will find that they have great ideas and want to see the company succeed as well.

I worked at Owens & Minor as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

Great people, everyone at the office was very kind.
Gained a lot of hands on experience from the lead developers
Easy to work with people in a team environment

    Cons

They had no plans on offering a full time position to any interns
The internship program ended and they let every single one go
I wish there was a training course that was offered to interns
