    Pros

Great company with decent pay, tuition reimbursement, and benefits

    Cons

    Poor management, TERRIBLE SUPERVISOR

Management should seriously reconsider the middle manager. Supervision is not meant to be micromanaging, and promotion from within should be a realistic opportunity for experienced workers. Less politics, more value on employees.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what individuals have to say. Don't allow a culture to exist that holds employees back from utilizing the skills they have.

    Pros

Good company to have on resume.

    Cons

The company is too cheap to hire more people, so the current employees are sometimes doing two peoples job for one low salary.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people so the current employees are not so stressed out. Take a hint when the turn over rate is high,

    Pros

Products you're proud to be associated with, solid financial performance year after year, some decent benefits including a well-funded pension plan. High employee turnover creates lots of opportunities for others to get promoted.

    Cons

Cronyism and nepotism are rampant. Don't even think about working here if you have facial hair. And you'd better love to wear a suit and tie to work every day. Managment spends a majority of their time locked in conference rooms preparing for the next presentation to senior managers.

    Advice to Management

Hire and promote based on merit and accomplishments. Pay more competitive salaries and loosen up the ridiculous dress code policies of this company to attract and keep top talent.

    Pros

Good experience, solid performing company financially.
Lots of opportunities to fix things and drive change, however, your pressure to drive the change is thwarted by a micromanagement culture.

    Cons

    Personnel development, leadership practices, culture.
Poor on boarding and HR experience. Company is very set in its ways and hard to drive the change you want. lots of pressure from above for results but very little "roadblock" removal from above to allow consistent repeatable results.

    Advice to Management

People, not quality should be SP number 1! More command by negations and allowing lower levee manager the authority to run the business.

Excellent, well-respected company that is stuck in the 1950's work culture.

    Pros

Ability to gain excellent work experience, professional environment, respected product, potential for upward growth.

    Cons

Militant work culture (strict suit and tie dress requirement, no cell phone usage in building, strict hours, no work-life balance); Extremely top-heavy org chart

    Advice to Management

Loosen the iron grip on employees. Make it a more positive work environment to increase morale and increase worker retention (ie: lower employee turnover).

    Pros

    Job security
    Decent benefits
    Work schedule is predictable
    Good coworkers

    Cons

People don't matter. Acknowledgment and expect from upper leadership is lacking and that attitude trickles down. When you have as much turnover in HR as we do, there is no continuity. If the people who support management and company policies can't handle it, who can? We keep losing good people and it sends a strong message.

    Advice to Management

You have a problem with senior leadership that will probably get your attention when you can no longer attract talent in a good labor market. You have no HR department, maybe you should look for some good leadership there.

    Pros

Very solid internship program, good practice of formal business, offers a wide range of skill set and knowledge to learn from, very stable company with consistent growth

    Cons

Very old school, disagreeing with the management or exercising creative new ideas might push your entire career into a fire pit. Hard to let yourself be who you really are, have to find that perfect mix of super conservative yet superficially positive attitude in order to fit in. Hard work doesn't matter as much as fitting in with the company culture.

    Advice to Management

Keep the things that drive company profit and throw away the strict rules and stiff work environment to let employees feel more "free".

    Pros

Paccar is and will continue to be a stable company. If you are young in your career, it wouldn't be a bad place to get some good work experience. Work life balance for NON-managers is relatively good. The benefits are good. The senior management is good. My department manager was excellent. He was a good strategic thinker with vision for the department. He was a good person to be around.

    Cons

The pay is far below what you could get for the same job somewhere else. The volume of work they expected was completely unreasonable. I typically worked at least 50 hours a week, and usually more. The amount of vacation is not negotiable, and really stunk when compared with the amount of work I had to get done. Delegating to my exempt employees was hampered by immense turn-over and an extended period of time where I wasn't allowed to fill open positions. The dress code is ridiculous. Your desk is not your own. It needs to be kept in a certain way the company defines as acceptable. It needs to look like nobody is working there and forget bringing in personal items. If you do have them, they need to be put away when the "Chairman" is going to be in the building. I could go on, but you get the general idea. The 'culture' is crazy and definitely not for everyone.

    Advice to Management

See the cons listed. You will eventually need to come into the current century if you expect to retain the employees.
