I have been working at PC Connection full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Work/life balance, compensation, time-off policies

    Cons

Culture, career movement/upward mobility, lack of innovation, poor internal data systems, management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's obvious management will stop at nothing to carry out their agendas, even it means suppressing career advancement/job sabotage for employees. Taking credit for others ideas, insensitivity to diversity, and bullying employees are not well received - it's highly dysfunctional and unprofessional. Management blocks the tools necessary to be successful in an individual contributor role, so they can take credit for large opportunities and projects, as well as maintain control. I will be sure to discuss my experiences with colleagues in the industry to bring awareness to the negative and unethical activity rampant throughout this company.

I worked at PC Connection part-time

    Pros

They have a nice café that has good food. It's a little pricey however.

    Cons

Don't let the job description deceive you! They use a lot of fancy words to make it seem like you are applying for an important role. It's not until you are sitting down at your desk on day 1 that you realize this is not what I signed up for. Meetings are held almost everyday and they are never useful. The only purpose they seemed to have was for people to give themselves a pat on the back. If you enjoy being bored to tears then this is the job for you!

    I worked at PC Connection

    Pros

The potential to make decent money is there but it's a slow and steady process and they usually dont keep you around long enough to hit that potential.

    Cons

unrealistic goals considering the current economic state, which would continuously go up even if you dont hit your numbers the previous month. There is not enough praise for employees that really work hard and the pay is awful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

the compensation really needs improving for the people that actually bring in money for this company and demoting people because your goal structure is what needs work is the fastest way to loose great employees.

    I worked at PC Connection

    Pros

Good hardware, software and networking equipment experience. They offer a fairly structured 2-3 week training period. The health benefits are fair. There was also a 10-20% discount on computer goods and any returned merchandise was sold at a great discount to emplyees. There was a health club on in the building and the location was very close the highway. I also seem to remenber they gave emplyees a turkey at thanksgiving.

    Cons

There was something about the work enviornment that was overly controlling. I felt undercurrents of dissatisfaction and there was alot of turnover in the sales dept. Sales support tools were not exceptional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Conduct employee opinion surveys once per year. Pretend you value your employees.
