    Pros

its gets kind of boring sometimes

    Cons

This industry job security is great if thats what you are looking for. Packaging is always going to be around in the future never have to worry about any uncertainties.

I have been working at PCA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Growing company (as a result of the recent acquisition of Boise, Inc.). Long-tenured employees who are incredibly loyal to the company.

    Cons

Growing company with long-tenured employees who are out of their element trying to manage the integration with Boise. Communication has gotten very poor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember management 101 basic - people want to know what's in it for them and why things are happening the way they are happening. Communication will be the key to either your success or failure with this endeavor. So far...there is room for much improvement.

    Frustrating

I have been working at PCA

    Pros

    Good benefits,people. Good desks.short-term disability.

    Cons

Since Medco migration the performance goals have been set too high for problems. Pay cut is not what I signed up for. Medco workers were union and ESI busted the union. Those left should get large pay increases, not decreases!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Know who is doing their job and reward them. Get rid of bottom- feeders!!

I worked at PCA full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great pay, great benefits, safety is #1 and they mean it, bonus 2 weeks before Christmas is a huge plus

    Cons

No room to move up in company, disiplinary actions are usually slaps on the wrist, don't regularly drug test employees who work on heavy machinery

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees like employees, not your friend. You can be friends with them outside of work.

Colorado Container Corp was a good company to work for but things have gone downhill after PCA took over.

I have been working at PCA

    Pros

Decent pay, Vacation, and personal time off.

    Cons

Poor 401k plan, pay freeze, some managment unfairly balance work expectations between favorites.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

401k plan needs alot of improvment (ie. 6% maching for all employees salaried and hourly). Supervisors need to work for a common goal professionally. Higher managment needs to have more of a personal role in plant floor operations on all shifts to better recognize which employees carry good work ethic and the company. Make your own conclusions about employees instead of relying on supervisors. Hard work and dedication should be premise for advancement and not the amount of common intrests and unproductive conversion you hold with your superior.

I have been working at PCA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

PCA is solid financially and they seem to care at the corporate level, I think anyway.

    Cons

The management office and plant treat sales people like they are not part of the team. No help from mangement and the plants compete against each other. No team work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest take time to talk to your people. I believed in PCA only to find it wasn't anything like they told me it was. I think corporate should be more involved at the plant level. They do an employee survey every year, I wouldn never put down what I really think, they say it's confidential but, if you look at the questions, they can figure out who is who.
