I worked at PFSweb full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Large company with growth. Excellent benefits, nice people, pleasurable work atmosphere. Employees appear to respect one another. Most of management seemed pretty cool.

    Cons

Imagine your employment being terminated with just the answer "it didn't work out". Even when sincerely questioned as to why the termination the manager lacked on communication skills and repeated with a snarl "it just didn't work out". . A better form of communication with a slight explanation would perhaps help someone learn from their mistakes had they made any. The funny thing about it was two weeks prior other more professional PFSweb management expressed the importance of leadership towards my growth w/the company . Guess the rules of respect didn't apply to one manager - Who displayed no respect or leadership or guidance. After being professionally Interviewed & recommended by one Senior Recruiter & two department VP's , this one manager knew more than everyone else....... and It Just Didn't Work Out. Now that's an answer from a leader! Truly no disgruntlement here..a spade is a spade.

    Advice to Management

When an NEW employee ask the simple question why they are being terminated, don't hide behind the fact that PFSweb is a right to fire company and doesn't have to give an answer. That only portrays the act of a coward not a leader.

Lack of promotion opportunities, bonuses and salary increases prevent this from being a great place to work.

I have been working at PFSweb full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Relaxed environment, flexible schedules, casual dress code, a diverse group of employees, and many big-name clients.

    Cons

Our department is under-staffed, and most of us are expected to work nights and weekends to meet unrealistic deadlines.

    Pros

Great trainers (if you get the right ones) Pay is decent Paid weekly

    Cons

Training is way too short and they put out on the floor way too soon.

I worked at PFSweb as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

I came upon this job using an employment agency. I was told it would be 2 weeks around Thanksgiving with the option of a few days after Christmas. We got paid full fare for the training days, which was three 8 hour days.

    Cons

Once we got live time on the floor, we had way too many people than calls coming in. We were only trained to assist people in placing internet orders, not customer service. I routinely would go up there for an 8 hour shift and be sent home after 45 minutes.

    Advice to Management

Don't waste 3 days training people on how to place internet orders. Identify what you need (customer service) and train the temp employees on handling those issues.

I worked at PFSweb full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is small, things are personal, and large amounts of responsibility are delegated to starting-level employees. The company is very much a "go get it" mindset, meaning any and all training is self driven, and you will not be given anything on a silver plate. While this gives a lot of learning, it is not necessarily good for developing new employees, and results in huge amounts of variation between what employees do and learn, even within the same function/job title.

    Cons

The company suffers from poor management throughout the company; there is no "path to success", ongoing developmental programs, or required reviews/feedback from management. The company does have a yearly review, however, there is no requirement for managers to abide by this, so tracking development is nearly impossible. With this in mind, the amount of work one puts in has nearly no direct impact upon one's development and salary, as it is entirely in the hands of your direct manager, who may or may not voice your impact to high management, who approve/discuss any potential promotions. The company does seem to have a habit of paying lower than market for both new and tenured employees, so keep this in mind when setting expectations. The company is structured as follows in the US : Allen, TX - Corporate office Dallas, TX - Call Center office Memphis, TN - Distribution Center The company also has locations in Leige and Manila, however, they are on a smaller scale and perform differently.

I worked at PFSweb full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice offices. Health and wellness program. Supportive upper management. Mostly smart people are employed with the exception of a few departments.

    Cons

Middle management is full of employees that have been with PFSweb for years making promotions for new workers almost impossible. Middle managers are promoted based on the years they've been with the company, not their skill at management.

    Advice to Management

Take a close look at your middle management and their skills at managing teams. Promote managers that have a track record of success and pay less attention to years of service.

I worked at PFSweb full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Small enough and growing fast enough to provide advancement opportunities.

    Cons

Cheap contracts with their clients wins business, but means that the pay rate for agents is VERY low. Some of the contracts do not include paying for training or management, so the company skimps on both, leaving too little support for agents.

    Advice to Management

Actually bid a reasonable amount so you can pay for the support the agents need.
