I have been working at PGi full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Its a typical J.O.B. - Just Over Broke - if you toe the line and keep your mouth shut you shouldn't have any problems

    Cons

Like most jobs now days you will make enough money to live but will not make enough money to save and advance your lifestyle. Typical rat race corporation were advancement and pay increases come rarely despite all the corporate BS about working hard someday paying off.

    Advice to Management

Selling out to corporations is not worth it, you just come across as a sell out and not a real person and no one is buying the corporate BS you repeat at the command of your superiors.

  2. OK place to work

I worked at PGi full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fairly stable company, they are using a custom platform and are international. Low turnover for the technical staff. There are some very competent people there.

    Cons

Nothing major, like any company there are good and bad managers, etc. The stock is in the telco conferencing space so it's not growing rapidly. They're also up against some stiff competition.

    Pros

The best thing about PGi is the people!

    Cons

The most negative thing about PGi is that there is no 401k match

I have been working at PGi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

On a personal level, PGi has some of the best people I've worked with in my career. They are trying to do the right thing to maintain viability in an industry experiencing unexpectedly rapid change.

    Cons

Executive management can't decide what the company wants to be when it grows up, and for a company that's been around for over 20 years that's a big problem. Some exciting software products are just not going to make it when the industry heavies have all the money to invest in software development.

    Advice to Management

Pick a growth strategy and stick to it. Integrate your acquisitions and move people between the silos. Stop pretending you're a startup that can pivot into a new business with no repercussions.

    Pros

Interesting colleagues. Variety of business lead to plenty to do. One day you might be working on one aspect to model and then you'll pivot to something completely different.

    Cons

The office location is at what is my likely the busiest intersection in the city. Huge residential development in the area has created a traffic nightmare.

    Advice to Management

Start recruiting out of college. The workforce is older and completely set in its ways. Surprising lack of technical background for employees of a tech company (one located right next to GA Tech).

    Pros

Good support from management. Family oriented. Many resources for growth planning. Great benefits and incentitives.

    Cons

You have to interview to move up in the company as if you were coming in from the outside.

    Advice to Management

Continue to communicate with management and associates.

I worked at PGi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunities abound for employees who are willing to go out and look for them. Flexible, highly collaborative work environment with some of the most creative, intelligent people I've met. Very open to telecommuting schedules and managers are highly supportive of risk-taking and independent projects.

    Cons

Pay is on the low side.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing and nurture your best and brightest.

I worked at PGi full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent sales teams. Good work culture. Strong financials. Above-average benefits. Excellent HR department. Excellent financial department.

    Cons

No career path, very few employees are actually promoted. Company is in middle of transition from a telecommunications company to a SaaS industry provider, and thus has a bit of an identity crisis. Senior management could be a lot stronger, particularly in developing associates and providing more structured career paths. Product development and innovation are weak.
