    Pros

On the job training to prepare you for your next job, hopefully with a company that treats its people better than PPG does.

    Cons

Really too many to count. Working for PPG amounts to being on corporate welfare. Senior mgmt is arrogant, and out of touch. Motivation through fear and intimidation is their SOP. Middle mgmt consists of "yes" men who are asking you to make a purse out of a sow's ear. Meaningless reporting, inane policies. Feels very much like grade school, but with an allowance marginally better than what your parent's gave you. Plus, they hand out performance perks called "stars" in lieu of printed money. You will be simultaneously patted on the shoulder and slapped on the back of your head. Promises of advancement rather than a raise. Talk to employees in other business units and you will find out that PPG under compensates across the board. They give you a car for a nominal monthly charge and a gas card. Big deal. You can drive to the lake but not be able to afford a hot dog for your bun. Only losers who turn in their call reports on time stay on with this company for a long career.

    Advice to Management

Treat people with respect. It will buy you their loyalty. Promote from within and don't punish people for speaking up. Your paint is ok. That is all.

    Pros

Close to my home. Close to plenty of liquor stores. Lots of married women that love to have affairs. Slept with 3 of them. They are awesome and they pay for the hotel.

    Cons

Lousy management and they know it.They think they know it all and cant properly wipe their buttocks in the bathroom. Their pay is miserable and they discriminate. Avoid this place.

    Advice to Management

You need to just fire everyone and start from scratch. Just close the doors permanently and the world will be a better place. Talk about incompetent people. Would actually give a negative star if I could.

    Pros

Large company with many openings across multiple disciplines. Servicing small business owners and developing relationships.

    Cons

Top management is out of touch with market needs. Very ridged company that takes a long time to make decisions. Not very focused on customer service or support. Very poor compensation with little opportunity to increase. Poor demotivated culture.

    Pros

no pros at all, company provides car, you pay for it. Possibility for bonus, but management reserves the right to make changes at any time and they do, when it's time to pay out. Holidays? Nope can't have them if they fall on a weekend, sorry? Are you good at what you do? Do you overachieve on goals? So what, we don't care, you are easily replaced. Are you working to make a living to support yourself? Look else where, won't happen here. Do you live to work? This is the company for you!

    Cons

this is the most horrible company I have ever worked for, no work/life balance, no compassion for employees, it's all about the $$$$. They can't do a thing right at store level, and the favorite phrase? It is what it is.

    Advice to Management

encourage your talent rather than make us feel like yesterday's trash

    Pros

Management is vague about opportunities for advancement. Reviews critical about topics they say are PPG standards but unable to explain the standards. Management does not know the job Turns a blind eye to problems and unable to work for improvement

    Cons

Nice co-workers. Employees hate their job and are on pins and needles. No open communication or opportunities for improvement.

    Advice to Management

Have open communication, openly resolve problems. Apparently management doesn't care there is a 25% turnover due to employees quitting, retiring early, moving to other depts or terminating talent because of inability to properly train.

    Pros

only open 7 to 5 M-F and open 8 to 12 on Sat. Paid Holidays Two weeks of Vacation

    Cons

Working lots of hours 50+ a week. Poor manager Structure in Market, and Executive office. Rude sales reps, and customers. This is the Worst job I have ever had. The average age of a Manager is about 51 and customer is 50 years old years old I’m under 25 (youngest in entire market). This company is not for young people, the company still operates like its' 1980. Lots of paperwork to sign and file that has no value. Poor pay for managers when having to do the job of multiple people. Stores are understaffed company is very “old school conservative” with policy and not willing to change. I started off in The CDP management trainee program and regret taking this job. Unless you like mixing paint all day, dealing with customer with high school education, and store employees who want noting in life take this job.

    Advice to Management

Improve relations between sales rep and stores.

    Pros

Better than no work at all. That is about the best thing you can say about a company that treats their employees like garbage.

    Cons

Upper management is at a loss on how to sell paint.

    Advice to Management

Copy Sherwin Williams management model. The model you are using now is terrible and will leave you lacking against your competition. It is incredible how awful the change from Glidden to PPG has been handled in North Carolina. Horribly inept management.
