Great Company to work

Engineer (Current Employee)
Sylmar, CA

I have been working at PPG full-time for less than a year

ProsRelaxed atmosphere, Opportunity for growth, Employee recognition, Many incentives, Stable company. In fact, it may be one of the most profitable companies in the Aerospace industry. The other facets of the company are constantly in demand and it allows other employees to become motivated to complete tasks. They are driven to promote a healthy work environment, friendly atmosphere and innovative technologies.

ConsIndustry has ups and downs, production workers may be unhappy, Constant cloud of possible union formation

Excellent summer internship experience

Chemistry Intern (Former Employee)
Milford, OH

I worked at PPG as an intern for less than a year

ProsLearned techniques used to test products currently manufactured as well as improving these products. Employee's I worked with were extremely nice and helpful. Company has fun, free events such as picnics and professional baseball games. Reward employee's for good work.

ConsLarge company so it seems like there is a lot of paper work necessary on a monthly basis in order to keep multiple managers informed.

Solid company, great place to work

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Pittsburgh, PA

I have been working at PPG full-time for more than 5 years

ProsPeople who work hard are given plenty of opportunities for advancement. Employees are generally treated very well and with a lot of respect. People who work here tend to stay for a long time, often their entire career - for good reason.

ConsThe corporate culture is very conservative, and PPG has a few of the same issues that other international companies face - business units can be pretty segmented.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep encouraging employee growth and development.

ProsGreat training program so far, they really make sure you are ready to take on the challenge of running your own store. Large company with plenty of room for advancement if you are willing to work hard.

ConsYou must be willing to relocate or they will not hire you. Unfortunate if you would like to stay where you are at, but that is all part of the job.

ProsThe other employees are very friendly and willing to help you out when needed. They are often very generous with ideas to help you further you project.

ConsIt seems to be very hard to move from a contract employee to full time.

Advice to Senior Managementbetter way to keep contractors around rather than just renewing contracts for multiple years

ProsManagement is phenomenal! Pay is decent for a college student. Very good part-time job. Very flexible about vacation and sick time

Consbenefits are not very generous. Would be a lot nicer if there was employer matching for 401k. benefits are really only downfall.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou're doing a good job but the only thing I would change would be to have 401k matching. Proud to be a PPG employee
