I have been working at PRA Health Sciences for more than a year

    Pros

    - Good salary, good bennies, generous vacation policy for a US company
    - Strong therapeutic leadership
    - Some really good people around here
    - Decent systems, work/life balance is the same as at every CRO

    Cons

    - Some really good people at high levels have left
    - Some not-so-good people can't be eliminated, or have brown-nosed their way into permanence
    - Poor communication between US and ex-US offices
    - CEO is an HR nightmare

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Try harder to keep the good people
    - Foster better communication on a global scale

    Pros

people, flexibility, work from home, work load

    Cons

no career path, since becoming PRA (we were formerly RPS) there have been many changes -- most of them not to the employees benefit, salary is low

I worked at PRA Health Sciences full-time

    Pros

Very welcoming atmosphere. Managers and higher ups really believe in the company and what they do. Management always willing to make time to talk. Good benefits. Good social aspect within the workplace.

    Cons

If you start at a beginning position you will stay there until further notice. No solid path available for being able to move up in the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't ask where someone wants to work up to in the company and then say that you don't know when the next time the training program to make the move will occur.

I have been working at PRA Health Sciences full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fantastic co-workers, work life balance good, benefits are comparable, management is pleasant and flexible. Great training ground for clinical research.

    Cons

It can come off that managers play favorites, career growth is hard to come by don't expect a promotion even if you qualify. Management will say the right buzz words to keep you interested and make you stay but things rarely materialize.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote the employees that deserve to be promoted or you risk losing them to competitors.

I have been working at PRA Health Sciences full-time

    Pros

Management supports staff most of the time. Work life balance usually respected. Benefits are okay--generally in line with similar companies.

    Cons

Career advancement is limited, and usually management level positions are hired externally. Higher level management is almost exclusively external hires. Salary is fairly static after hire with minimal yearly increases.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within. Need better communication about what is happening in the company and what other departments and offices do.

I have been working at PRA Health Sciences full-time for more than a year

    Pros

For the most part, this is a good company, with decent benefits and some flexibility. Free breakfast on Fridays, free coffee, nice co-workers.

    Cons

Workload can be very demanding at times, there is no consistency in regards to processes and how to get things done, mainly a trial by fire type of position. It can be hard to get your footing and truly learn the job, which can sometimes be frustrating - expect the learning curve to take at least a year to get to the point where you feel as if you're not drowning.

I have been working at PRA Health Sciences

    Pros

Highly organized. Pay is comparable to those who have the experience. Excellent benefits package and PTO. Online systems and interactions with FMs and CRAs are great.

    Cons

Some CTMs micromanage and difficult to build rapport due to inheriting studies from past CRAs that reflect poorly on those CRAs trying to catch-up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allocation of CRAs should begin from the beginning of studies.

I have been working at PRA Health Sciences full-time

    Pros

Great workplace culture, good pay for a right out of college grad.

    Cons

Not a good potential growth in salary, growing in business but not in number

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to take care of their employees better and give bigger raises

Negotiate job title and salary well when offered job because promotions are rare...

I have been working at PRA Health Sciences

    Pros

Strives for all employees to perform quality work, proud to say I work at PRA, ability to work from home if you're not located near offices, great benefits (medical and PTO)

    Cons

Most times there isn't a work life balance that company claims they want employees to have, studies are constantly under bid, bonuses are a joke when metrics are unattainable due to workload or reasons out of your control, promotions in clin ops don't seem to ever occur or if you're finally offered a promotion, often times it's after you've given notice or provided them an offer letter you received elsewhere

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bid realistically, value employees more, allow CRAs to use airlines that make more sense to home airport, make bonuses more attainable, promote faster especially when it's for more senior level of current position
