Former Employee – worked at PRA International full-time for more than a year
Pros – PRA trully believes in the importance of their employees and strives to understand and balance both their professional and personal lives. They continuously seek to empower the people and keep an open communication where opinions are strongly encouraged. There is also a great team environment where people are willing to help you regardless of the department they work at or the role responsibilities they have, and this greatly enhances success. Definitely a great place to work!
Cons – Salary expectations at the time were somewhat under the benchmarking if considering the constant pressure and the high workload; however, pressure and heavy workload are almost a "must" in this industry.

Current Employee – been working at PRA International
Pros – PRA is growing extremely fast. Hard work and competence pay off. Finishing your work quickly will benefit you. Benefits are great and a lot of fun people to work with.
Cons – Salaries could be better and some policies make the company a little stiff. Hard to distinguish yourself amongst 5000 other employees.

Former Employee – worked at PRA International
Pros – - flexible work schedule
- tech savvy
- great opportunities if you work in the office
- if you don't perform you won't make it, so even though you do run across incompetent people they usually aren't around for long
Cons – - if you're promoted from within, don't expect a raise
- merit increases (actually based on merit) were 2-3% this year, while the company was offering $5-10k sign-on bonuses -- limited financial reward for quality work
- huge disconnect from other employees if you're regionally based
- opportunities vary depending on your manager
All-in-all, I was happy with everything at PRA but my salary increases over the 4+ years I worked there and 3 (well-earned) promotions. I was doing high-quality work, but since I was promoted from within, my colleague that were hired in were making easily $20k more... leaving me with no choice but to leave.
Advice to Senior Management – Internal promotion shouldn't mean you automatically start at the bottom of the pay grade when promoted -- fairly compensate the people who have already proven their worth to the company! I promise, if you do, they'll stick around.

Current Employee – been working at PRA International
Pros – Good people to work with (coworkers), company stays relevant w/ technology - has robust IT systems, always something new, good career path options
Cons – Workload is very high, with recent changes in management they tend to reinvent the wheel and don't want input of how things have been done well in the past. There is an expectation of availability to work evenings and weekends and to check mail constantly. High fear of negative consequences if make a mistake. Change is constant and endless. Very heavy on technology so email is overwhelming, some of the IT systems are complicated.
Advice to Senior Management – slow down - let people do quality work rather than quantity work

Current Employee – been working at PRA International
Pros – PRA really encourages a work/life balance, and the flexibility is the best part of working for the company. Management is also moving the company in a good direction.
Cons – Some other departments can be difficult to work with. The company seems to be love-it or hate-it where you are either gone within a year or stay for a long time.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what you have been doing for the past year. Reward the high performers and let the lower performers go!
