From Great to Uncertain

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at PROS full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGreat peers to work with, smart, dependable, friendly. Working here you are able to get involved in many different projects for diverse customers and industries, and acquire lots of experience.

ConsWhile decisions from the C-level execs make sense, the middle "senior" management people that has come in the recent years does not really seem to get it. They are putting in jeopardy the results-oriented customer-focused culture that made this company great in the first two decades. They don't seem to really know how to execute the vision and are leaving people frustrated in their path.

Advice to Senior ManagementWatch the organic growth, avoid wasted resources, watch for inefficiencies not just add more layers of people hoping this will take the company to the next level, do retrospectives after decisions.

3 or 4 people run the entire show. Rest are just listeners.

Technology Worker (Former Employee)
Houston, TX

I worked at PROS full-time for more than 8 years

ProsGood tech team. Flexible hours. Smart developers.

ConsA few people control the company and over rules anything that they dont agree. Most managers would not survive in any other decent company. Managers who dont kiss up are taken out or put into other departments or groups.
Most of the promotions are based on politics and who can kiss up more.

Advice to Senior ManagementCEO is good but too much controlling. Has a few selected people put in each department who are used to run the show.
Sad that this company has middle and senior management with full of people with no managerial skills. Every other person is a VP or director.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Fabulous group of employees

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at PROS full-time for more than a year

ProsVery intelligent and highly educated population of employees. The people are amazing and make it easy to go to work, even when your workload is insane!!!

ConsThe shift from a small family run company to having doubled in size in the last two years is challenging. They need to clean house of some of the "old" regime as they are struggling to move forward. Most Leaders/Managers grew up in the company so they have no ideas to contribute from external experiences. They also struggle to make decisions.

Advice to Senior ManagementAndres is a great CEO and cares about the employees. Keep up the good work. The CFO needs to retire. Some of the decisions he makes or things that he gets invoved with are ridiculouos and show an archaic mindset. Other Senior leaders need to respect that Andres is the CEO and stop trying to build your organizational empires which you think reflects that you should have been selected for CEO. Get over it. Most of you wouldn't last a second in a large company and you certainly wouldn't be a senior leader.

Decent company with decent potential

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Houston, TX

I worked at PROS full-time for more than 8 years

ProsOne of the great things about this company in the past was that it was a small, family-like atmoshpere where you knew almost everyone in the company. Ron W is a fantastic individual and a great ally to the employees. With the growth, the family-like atmosphere has changed. There is more bureacracy now, and it seems like a big company. There are some truly great people working there, and they are smart.

ConsCompany culture turned very sour at the end of 2008. Employees did not trust management and management used fear and threats to try to motivate. This got better when Andres became CEO, but there are still remnants from before. The market for the company's software has stagnated in the U.S. to a degree, even though they have had recent success in Europe. The biggest complaint while I was there was that there was no career growth planning, and opportunities to get promoted were limited. There is an overriding sense today that if you are not one of Andres' boys, it is difficult to get promoted.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more responsive to employees' career needs and communicate better to them.

many great opportunities but there is not a clear path to the next level

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Houston, TX

I have been working at PROS

Prosworld travel oppoortunities are fantastic
global company provides a rich opportunity to expand your horizons
Houston is a great place for work

Constoo many chiefs and not enough indians, makes this a very top heavy company
there is no clear definition of how bonus is distributed

Advice to Senior Managementmore visibility and a clear definition of roles, responsibilites and carreer path opportunities would make employees happier. Promote from within, sometimes it seems to be a bad thing to be too good at your job.
