Supervisor (Current Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsDiversity. Treast employees very good. Good benefits. Has a good safety program and spends money on it.

ConsHigh stress. Long hours. Always on call. 24 hour company. Sometimes we try to rush to meet deadlines, even though we are not ready.

    Great internship experience

    Engineering Intern (Former Employee)

ProsGot to experience doing real work and not some busy work made up for an intern.
Traveled fairly often to various project sites to ensure that the crew were getting the parts and equipment they needed to get the job done.
HR put on a couple of field trips and activities for inters that were fun too.

ConsNone that come to mind.... well some of the online safety training is quite lengthy and dry.

Advice to Senior ManagementRespect and take care of all employees - this was true in my department, but not all departments.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Great company to work for

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThis is a demanding place to work you will not get board. There are always something interseting going on every day.

ConsSometimes it is hard to work on the filed when it is raining or blazing hot. But I guess it is a part of the job.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore communication with stuff and also set clear goals and perspectives for future carer goals. Otherwise management is very helpful.

ConsThe company is not agile. Making a decision is like steering a cruise ship.

Good pay and work isn't too hard

    Field Intern (Former Employee)

ProsThe company offers good pay and the work can be pretty fun, especially during the summer when there's a lot of fieldwork offered throughout California. The benefits and vacation times are also very reasonable and what you would expect for a huge utilities company.

ConsSometimes the work can be a bit slow and there might be times where you don't have much to do.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe management can be really vague at times and should have better communication as to what they are looking for in their employees.

PG&E as a place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    Pros-great benefits
-lots of jobs to apply for in the company
-can move careers in the company
-mainly good people who want the best for the company and do the right thing

Cons-some lifers that add no value and do bare minimum and they get away with it !
-croniesm exists to an extent- HR should do more to prevent peoples friends being hired with out proper interview screening

Advice to Senior Management-smartmeter is a disaster- there are some straight talking managers that could sort it out, I dont understand the idiots involved in the public relations- fire them!

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
