Four Words: myopic, draconian, provincial and impoverished

    Administrative Assistant (Former Employee)
    Novato, CA

ProsNice location for Corporate HQ in Novato. Nice office space in HQ.

ConsThe four words I would use to describe Pacific Pulmonary’s culture are: myopic, draconian, provincial and impoverished. I estimate line and mid-management staff are paid 20-25% below the general labor market. Teams are stretched so thin that salaried people work 10-12 hours a day and rarely take vacations. Director level and above staff, however, appear to work eight hours a day. There is tremendous hypocrisy between what management requires of staff and how they themselves perform. IT infrastructure is outdated and help desk support is non-existent. There is no orientation program, no on boarding program and no one has any bandwidth to even take on those functions and roles informally. Everything is trial and error and hunt and peck learning. Management takes a command and control style approach to managing because they have nothing positive to offer staff to incentivize and motivate them, so they resort to more negative approaches to keep people at their desks and working. Friends and acquaintances that applied to and interviewed for positions there are not communicated with appropriately in the process. As one friend of mine said who interviewed there, “I was not impressed.” Also worth mentioning, there’s a revolving door (not a surprise), low morale (understatement) and the fact that people don’t really talk to each other at all.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet into 21st Century management practices. Open your eyes, ears, minds and hearts. If the business can't be saved then close it down with some compassion. If it is to be saved it is because you stopped treating your staff like assembly line workers in the 19th century and started treating them like the creative talented contributors so many of them are.

Bad company to work for. Liars

    PCC (Former Employee)
    Lexington, KY

ProsThe pros are that the tech are good people but upper management was just trying to treat employees and patients bad. they only care if medicare gets on to them and they are in trouble with the feds.

ConsCompany is in trouble so they don't know what to do but lie and screw you. no chance of advancement and training was bad.

Advice to Senior Managementmanagement do something instead of lie and mistreat employees

Terrible mngmt, pay not up to standards

    Service Tech (Former Employee)

ProsLaid back, good equipment, Great employees.

ConsThey only take a few insurance companies which handcuffs Sales team and lessens chances of landing more ACCTS. They don't back their employees. On the lower end of pay scale. They have you do your own reviews and rarely give a 4% raise. This year they didn't give raises! Customer Service not given enough proper training to succeed. Patients think they are a joke. They pass up fully qualified employees for career advancement for outside recruits with no relevant work history(happened to 3 of my friends, not me). They were raided by FBI in 2011 and the employees were never told the status of what happened, all swept under rug.

Advice to Senior ManagementBack your employees, after all they did get through your background check and 3-4 interviews and drug screen.

If you LOVE Drama and being in a popularity contest every day you will Love this place!

    Customer Care Representative (Current Employee)
    Lexington-Fayette, KY

ProsI have had 2 interviews with other companies this week

ConsNone...Unless you are a robot who really doesn't believe in customer service. You can only become a move up in this company if you are a yes person and kiss A LOT of tail.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of existing management and supervisors in your Lexington CCC. Hire ore promote people who truly believe in customer service.

    Total confusion and outdated communication.

    Operations Manager (Former Employee)
    Amherst, NY

ProsCould have been a good place to work if people learned to openly communicate.

ConsNever appreciated good, hard-working, honest associates.

Advice to Senior ManagementNew management at the top needed.

Claims to be Customer oriented...can you say Bullcrap boys and girls?

    Customer Care Representative (Current Employee)
    Lexington-Fayette, KY

ProsUnless you enjoy backstabbing and drama DAILY....None

Cons8 out of 10 Supervisors have never done the job. If you are "caught" trying to help a customer you get told thats not part of tbe job...excuse me but the customer had a question and I answered it...isnt that part of being a customer setvice rep?? Bonuses are paid quarterly, you get reviewefd every month and guess what 2 out of 3 reviews you are Gods gift to the world third month? You suck canal water...suoervisors are told to mske sure people dont bonus. Backstabbing and drama are what this place thrives on...if you dont join in you are labled and targeted by management.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire or God forbid :promote people to be supervisors who know what customer service means..get rid of the drama and popularity contests in your Lexington CCC.

    Terrible Culture

    Patient Care Coordinator (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsIt's an opportunity to impact people's quality of life by providing respiratory equipment.

ConsThe company culture is often not pleasant to work within, there is no true sense of teamwork, and the management doesn't seem to know how to be professional and coach up. They simply over react and are accustomed to coaching out it seems.

Advice to Senior ManagementPerhaps learn from companies who value and measure employee satisfaction to enrich company culture and make a work environment that everyone can benefit from.
