I have been working at Pall full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Pretty good salary. Nice vacation package. Loved the people I worked with.

    Cons

Outside sales people treated poorly. Expectations constantly were changing and so it was hard to meet obligations sometimes. Lots of good-ol-boy mentality. Worked here before Eric Krasnoff left, so can't speak of the atmosphere today.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Learn to respect employees more.

Lots of promising potential that is, unfortunately, offset by a bewildering and complicated producdevelopment process ,

I have been working at Pall full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Fantastic amount of internal talent.

Very broad market coverage that somewhat isolates Pall from the up and down cycles you see with companies that only sell into one or two markets.

Good cash reserves that allow them to aggressively develop solutions to address portfolio gaps.

    Cons

Huge amount of confusion in the engineering community caused by Pall"s Sage Gate Process, which is THE MOST complicated one I have ever seen.

Pall's Gate process doesn't work for novel products that have significant technical challenges that need to be solved before they would be commercially viable.

Zenophobic mentality makes it impossible to gather realistic and meaningful customer feedback early in the product development process....................historically pall spends years developing a product before it is ever shown to anyone outside the company. Pall management recognizes that this needs to be improved, but they have not implemented disclosure strategies the would allow allow marketing or engineering to gather reliable customer feedback early in the development process.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pall's ultimate mission is to offer solutions that allow our customers separate, purify or concentrate product. Our endgame is not to fill in all the boxes on the myriad of checklists that are in the stage gate process.

Simplify the Stage gate Development process and publish exemplary examples that will be used as guides for future gate submissions.

Hire project managers whose sole purpose is to move projects through the gate process.

I worked at Pall full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good training and salary / benefits. The work environment is clean and safe. Unless you have a college education you will only go so far and that is just fine.

    Cons

No regard for a persons sleep habits or personal time. You are considered another piece of equipment to be used when necessary and to be let go of whenever they need to hire another vice president. This unfortunately is a sign of the times. Corporate greed at its very best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You may all sleep better at night if you would realize your employees deserve some respect as human beings. Some of you may feel this is just the way a business is run properly and others are just trying to climb the ladder stepping on other peoples fingers as you go. Karma will most likely be the winner in the end.

I have been working at Pall full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Friendly people who are very smart and intelligent. Benefit package is very good. Company execs have sent stock price through the roof. Huge emphasis on quality and creating new products. Workplace is very clean.

    Cons

Local leadership is lacking. They are not on the same page and make decisions that don't make sense. Later on the workers have to work overtime to clean up the mess. Management believes in working short handed and don't schedule properly. Management doesn't care much about the workers.

    Pros

Good company benefits along with competitive compensation

    Cons

There was a disconnect with executive management and middle management and projects were often micro-managed. Went all in with the Six-Sigma paradigm to much dismay

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to those on the front lines and realize Six Sigma is not an excuse for lack of mentoring

I worked at Pall full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

This is a good company for self-driven individuals. If you have no issue going after the knowledge you want to succeed at your job and are a people person by nature, you will succeed. There is a good amount of autonomy to make your own schedule and meetings.

    Cons

The lack of innovation with respect to marketing strategies/product launch campaigns, internal communication, and customer service often consumed a lot of time that should have been devoted to selling and building relationships. There was a disjointed feeling among the groups about the company's mission. An attitude and cohesive message should come from the top. Unfortunately the bulk of your communications from upper management would be about quarterly sales numbers, setting up meetings for them because they wanted to travel in your territory (for no apparent reason) and what were your greatest 'fires' that required their attention. The potential is there. Only time will tell.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Putting out fires is not an effective way to do business. Preventing the start of the fires in the first place is.

I worked at Pall full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

With the wide scope of their business, they are positioned to succeed when some industries have downturns. There are good future opportunities for the corporation to grow as the world is more focused on being "green", and higher levels of fluid cleanliness are required in some industries.

    Cons

The corporation is so focused on the immediate financial targets, that the value of knowledgable employees is overlooked. This will affect the ability of the corporation to retain people going forward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The employees are as important as the technology.
