I worked at Panasonic full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

My colleagues - professional and proud to work for Panasonic. The company offers a competitive salary and nice benefits package. I enjoyed working there for many years but the move to Newark made it too difficult for me to stay with the company because of the commute. I had several great managers but my last one was disengaged. I was disheartened to learn about recent layoffs in the consumer group. Lots of good people lost. I hope the company is on a successful path and remains competitive.

    Cons

Management could be a bit of a club although my dept. head treated his people well. Difficult to advance in a career. People stayed there because it was a great company; now I think people stay due to the poor job market.

I worked at Panasonic full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good work and family balance. Leading edge on product development. A lot of fun for the techie people.

    Cons

Slow reaction to product issues. Engineering has to research everything to the point it is a dead issue by the time they respond. Then the correction is what was submitted by "lower rank" personal at the onset.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your people in the field! Promote your product someplace besides NYC.

Former Employee - Human Resources Generalist Intern in Newark, NJ
Former Employee - Human Resources Generalist Intern in Newark, NJ

I worked at Panasonic as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I was only an intern here the summer. However, I must say that it is a very friendly atmosphere with employees who are very willing to assist you if you need it. The new open floor layout gives a view of Newark that is mesmerizing. They do offer flexibility with working at home, so they are making an attempt to take work-life balance into account.

    Cons

Being an intern I was asked to do a lot of tasks but the tasks they I was giving I couldn't complete. I was never granted access needed in the HRIS to complete the required tasks. I felt I had to constantly bother other HR members so I could gain access using their user name and passwords

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be afraid to take a chance and hire some of the interns you bring in. You are lacking new and fresh ideas, the kind that young blood could bring in.
