I have been working at Panasonic as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

You meet many people who have been in the business for a long time and can help you gain a lot of knowledge. There is no micro-management and as long as you do your work your manager won't give you trouble.

    Cons

Poor communication within product management and engineering management. It's a Japanese company so it is tough to find time to communicate with the factory workers in Japan.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be a better understanding of what managements job duties are and how to these duties are distributed.

    Pros

Competitive sales compensation (salary, benefits, car/fuel/insurance, 401K match)
    Great high-quality products to sell
Japanese culture is high on Honor so we are always asked to do the right thing.
    Investment is High-potential employees

    Cons

The sales culture is demanding. This is not necessarily bad, but is not for everyone.
Division mergers have created some internal challenges
Japanese business culture is very conservative. Risk of being left behind by competitors in certain areas
Poor marketer - Does not do a very good job of telling customers why Panasonic products are better

I worked at Panasonic full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

My colleagues - professional and proud to work for Panasonic. The company offers a competitive salary and nice benefits package. I enjoyed working there for many years but the move to Newark made it too difficult for me to stay with the company because of the commute. I had several great managers but my last one was disengaged. I was disheartened to learn about recent layoffs in the consumer group. Lots of good people lost. I hope the company is on a successful path and remains competitive.

    Cons

Management could be a bit of a club although my dept. head treated his people well. Difficult to advance in a career. People stayed there because it was a great company; now I think people stay due to the poor job market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward your workers with raises again.

I worked at Panasonic full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good work and family balance. Leading edge on product development. A lot of fun for the techie people.

    Cons

Slow reaction to product issues. Engineering has to research everything to the point it is a dead issue by the time they respond. Then the correction is what was submitted by "lower rank" personal at the onset.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your people in the field! Promote your product someplace besides NYC.
