I have been working at Panduit

    Pros

Free parking, very clean working conditions, still good benefits like insurance and flex time and they are still matching 3% for your 401k retirement fund

    Cons

layoffs, layoffs, layoffs, layoffs, layoffs... The company claim.s to be having a record sales year and yet they are laying so many people off in so many departments and divisions. The only department that I have not heard of any layoffs is human resources (I guess this belongs in the"pros" box above if you are in HR!). Back to the layoffs: a lot of people who have been at Panduit for more than 20 years have been laid off during the many rounds and I am wondering if there are grounds for a class-action lawsuit because a lot them are women and a lot of them are over 50 years old. Ladies, have you spoken with one another or perhaps this family company gave you such a wonderful severance package that you wouldn't bother with suing them? The company is going through a drastic change and it is painful. Oh, and the phony glowing reviews listed here must be from those same HR people that are not on the hit list. There is not a ring of truth in them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

for one thing, please get rid of the word integrity from your list of core principles or whatever that thing is... people have been lied to with impunity. Try although I doubt you can reinvigorate the once productive, collaborative, even fun culture that existed here but has been gone for about 5 years now. Just get from Bain what you really want, the actual highest price you can sell the company for and be done with it.

I worked at Panduit full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It was a job for the time I was there. There wasnt a whole lot of pros. Close to home.

    Cons

Laid people off before their retirement. didn't compensate well even when you went above and beyond your job. Just laid my Mom off after 15 years of service right before she is going in for surgery.

    Treat employees better.

I have been working at Panduit full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    No pros to begin with.

    Cons

The company seems to harbour many people who are outcasts and rejects from other companies. Been here 5 years and nothing of strategic importance seems done. Frustration level is high. Tasks, processes are always in a mess and functions are disconcerted.

There's a lot of empty talk, virtually no transparency and lacks of communication. There are many people who has stayed in Panduit for many years and seems to be rather complacent at all times. Management is always, has always been on the wrong focus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The senior management and old timers should just quit and not hang on for the sake of hanging on.

I worked at Panduit full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very nice people (excluding many execs) , nice building (way out in the sticks though)

    Cons

All i can say is to read the other reviews here -- I ignored them but they are spot on. My mistake. This is the most dysfunctional place I've ever seen. And they are low-tech, not high-tech, as they will want you to believe. Execs rule by fear - ask about this. Believe what you read here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Panduit full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Secure and safe work place.
Climate controlled, but from a different area.

    Cons

    Not military/veteran friendly
a feeling of distrust with upper management
    Not very OSHA compliant

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

On the outside Panduit looks very appealing to many of the co-ops that they run through. As a culture, the mistrust and heir of distrust with upper management is at a all time high. Hiding the true cost that it take to make product from upper management seems to be a way of life for mid level managers. If you are a veteran of the military, you are treated as if you already have PTSD. It doesn't matter if you have never shown ant signs. You are a powder keg to them. Sadly it is that way across the whole company. Mid-level management has lost touch with the production people, the same people that can make you look like a superstar. The feeling of all for none is starting to take hold. Lastly, once the family patriarch is gone this company will be divided up and sold off. Remember, its your choice......I work to live, not live to work.

Panduit's focus is on the bottom line, they lost the human aspect to their "Family Company".

I worked at Panduit full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Only Pro is that Panduit is remodeling the existing buildings that they are not selling as they send production out of the US. If you are an HR person great! they built a whole floor in the corp. building to fill it, more HR people than actual working employees.

    Cons

You get time off for sick but then again it counts agents you during your reviews. Promotions are based on "who you know" connections to the family or upper management and not job performance or qualifications. Employee building is a joke, instead of what use to be given $500.00 weekend away for 5 year service is now popcorn and carmel apple days, way to go HR, sure everyones looking forward to ice cream day too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management has never had been interested in the employee's opinions. Even though HR's weak attempt to add questionnaires they offer employees to fill out. No one believes they are truly anonymous and fears retaliation for negative remarks. Face it, management wont even read them or take them into consideration.

    Pros

OK pay and benefits. Nice HQ in Tinley Park some of the other locations have a poor environment.

    Cons

Basically distrustful of their employees. They think you're out to steal hours ( all employees except the very top punch a clock), or you're going to have too much of a good time on a road trip and get a good dinner, or steal office supplies. They send warnings if you do things like personal banking using their internet connection. If you are a professional in Marketing or Management, you dont get a company phone, but they expect you to use your personal phone for company business--and dont allow expensing your personal phone for business use!

I have been working at Panduit full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people on the shop floor.

    Cons

Manufacturing leadership is very closed minded. Company is secretive to a fault. They make labels, twist ties, and snap together clips for heaven sakes. Processes are guarded like Fort Knox. If outside help is needed by expert industry leaders, Panduit will not let them in to assist. This is why the company technology is very far behind there competitors. We have control panels on critical machines that parts are no longer made. Electrical engineers and maintenance spends days and weeks trying to design, develop, make, and buy pars to supplement parts you can't buy.

Manufacturing service organization Management is the reason Panduit will fell.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You do not have a corner on the market of your product. You need outside assistance as every company in America and the world knows. Stop being hermits thinking you got some unique process niche in your market.

I worked at Panduit full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Staff developers are generally competent and personable.
    A paycheck.
    Easy commute.
    Being gone.

    Cons

Development and architect managers who have very little idea of how software development works from neither a theoretical or practical point of view.
Actual product resembles a newbie developer's or hobbyist's side project used to tinker with multiple technologies and went horribly wrong.
Claims to be Agile, yet, practices almost no Agile methods (other than a "scrum" session that lasts close to an hour a.k.a. a status meeting). Then the managers causing the disconnect complains about not being Agile.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ship out the development management team.
Assign the technical research team to architect a new solution.
Start from ground zero because you are building on a foundation of sand.
