    Very dysfunctional place

Software Design Engineer (Former Employee) Orland Park, IL

ProsStaff developers are generally competent and personable.
    A paycheck.
    Easy commute.
    Being gone.

ConsDevelopment and architect managers who have very little idea of how software development works from neither a theoretical or practical point of view.
Actual product resembles a newbie developer's or hobbyist's side project used to tinker with multiple technologies and went horribly wrong.
Claims to be Agile, yet, practices almost no Agile methods (other than a "scrum" session that lasts close to an hour a.k.a. a status meeting). Then the managers causing the disconnect complains about not being Agile.

Advice to Senior ManagementShip out the development management team.
Assign the technical research team to architect a new solution.
Start from ground zero because you are building on a foundation of sand.

Senior Web Developer and Scrum Master

Senior Developer and Scrum Master (Former Employee) Orland Park, IL

ProsThe people who liked working here cited that is was close to their home. Some also felt there was good job security.

ConsPoor management, poor pay, poor quality application. talanted had to maintain an old application while new applications were being outsourced overseas, QA was 100% manual, no automated code checking was done, no code reviews, no unit nor integration testing. Management claimed they were "Agile" but they only Agile practice was Scrum, and I could not find a single Scrum practice in place, other than meeting names. The Scrum meeting was usually an hour long and consisted of status gathering. Code assignments were made by management, and they skipped the reconciliation meeting altogether. Basically it was a team of talented developers who could take no pride in their work and hacked together bug fixes, often causing other defects. Some senior developers refused to admit to bugs. They didn't invite ideas from the team and management often ignored problems reported from testers. Overseas development had no unit tests either, and both used CI as a build process rather than it's intended role. They maintained five different scripting languages. One was due to a consultant who left and used a language no one else knew. They threw in an array of technologies, often overlapping and underutilized. For instance they used Spring but did not dependancy injection. Th build process was a mix of Maven, Ant and scripts and obsolete steps had not been removed.

Advice to Senior ManagementLeadership is well below standards. How do you intend to sell software that has been hacked at for the last two years and has no automated unit. integration, functional, performance or stress tests?

ProsThe only pros come as a gift to Paduit competition via the Panduit management.

ConsIf dumb and stupid had offspring and that offspring inbred a few times that would describe the Panduit management. If you don't understand this then you are probably a good fit for Panduit.

Advice to Senior ManagementSorry I have degree, so they wouldn't understand.

5 years of decline, grand plans with no staffing, chasing from strategy to strategy..

Eng Management (Current Employee) Orland Park, IL

ProsIf you have no other choice, they have a nice new building, the rest are not new... The new bldg does not have the gym as was planned, that should be a tell...

ConsLost their way, don't know who they are or where they are going. 3 years of no growth, plans to grow 10%, + staffing cuts lead to no growth and they ask why? Sales rep turn over and no control over the end user sales...

    Welcome to the beat down!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsWas once a high quality engineering focused company. On time delivery of products. Great leadership from the founder...Jack!

ConsWhen will the board of directors wake up and make a wholesale leadership change. They have created the present employee issues and departures. They have created the lack of quality in their products and the issues around inventory.

Advice to Senior ManagementNo advice, they do not listen and think they know it all! What a shame.

    Great people...horrendous management

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsGreat people and good products

Cons* Management through intimidation that depletes the moral of its great employees..
    * Don't be fooled by all the openings. It's not because of growth but rather because they can't retain their employees due to low morale. People are constantly walking on egg shells
    * Employees that come from another company on avg. last about 1 1/2 years
