I have been working at Papa John's full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

its a job. they will hire anybody

    Cons

Consider yourself owned. You are property and they make sure you know it. You might find a nice manager or two, but nice ones don't last long. You must be willing to put your job before everything. If you ever need medical leave or any accommodations be prepared to make a choice between quitting, or working normally anyway, despite doctors orders. In the four years I worked there I was never given any slack. I've had stitches torn out while having to lift heavy objects, even though I had a doctors note restricting my lifting, and was told I could leave and not come back or man up and work through it. I resorted to duct tape over paper towels just to hide the bleeding from customers. I worked through a stomach ulcer that caused me to vomit blood. I was given a small trash can to keep near my station so I wouldn't have to run to the back constantly to puke. I worked until I was 8 months pregnant because you only get a 1 month leave without being replaced, even though I had a doctors note restricting my work hours at 6 months. I wound up having my baby a month early.

I worked at Papa John's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

If you're a daytime driver, the tips are pretty good because you're the only driver there!
However, when the evening shift arrives, you're lucky to get more than two deliveries per run.
Lots o' free food and soda, though!

    Cons

I've never seen a company micromanaged the way PJ's is. The area manager would call or visit DAILY!
When I worked at a competing store (OK it's called Pizza Hut), I'd be lucky to see or hear from the area
manager, maybe, once every month and a half?
It's a pizza place. Don't EVER expect a raise. If you bring that up in front of an area manager, they just smile.
PJ's does this stupid thing called "chatter." It's not in any PJ handbook, but the higher ups expect you to do it.
    "Saucer is the quarterback!"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less driver per shift = less labor.

    Pros

Working as a driver can be fun since you get to leave the store a lot and have the potential to make decent tips. Positive relationships with some co-workers.

    Cons

Low pay, no benefits, managers make less than delivery drivers, general manager refused to support our local store. Constantly ran out of inventory due to poor management.

    Pros

Making the pizzas from scratch is really fun, and you get to stick your hands in food all day!

    Cons

    Management is awful. Just awful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get new good people in management. Hire people for the right reasons and not because one of your current employees tells you to or not to. Treat the employees that do their jobs to the best of their abilities with respect and fire those who don't.

I have been working at Papa John's part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Most people are good people and help you with tips

    Cons

No sense of direction by anyone at any levels. Managers and supervisors dont receive any training whatsoever on how a business is supposed to be run. In my personal experience none of the managers that I have had contact have any idea of how an actual business is supposed to run and they rely 100 percent on the cookie cutter management styles that are handed down to them and if they add anything is on the fly and is usually bad

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please take some business management courses. do not appoint managers who do not want to learn or better themselves

I have been working at Papa John's part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Cash in hand at end of shift. Autonomy when driving. Decent coworkers. Half price discount carryout. Hire anyone.

    Cons

Customers are often terrible; do not tip, are rude, disrespectful, are not home, do not answer door, expect you to call them on arrival and do not answer, pay in change, etc. Company does not pay for car maintenance. High Turnover. Company cut their formerly minimum wage pay for drivers to split pay which=4.25 when driving/7.25 in-store to show how much they appreciate their employees. The company charges 2.50 non itemized delivery charge on the receipt and only gives drivers 1.35 per delivery. The drivers job is an insider as well as a maid/janitor. Managers are routinely threatened with firing for arbitrary reasons. All the managers I've seen are going bald. Dumb and cheaply made mandatory uniforms. There are no perks or incentives to stay in this position long term. No raises, performance rewards, tuition reimbursement, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mileage fee too low, provide maintenance costs or company vehicles, raises, more lax uniforms, split pay seriously?, provide urine for drivers to drink on the reg
