I have been working at Papa John's part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Make good tips and the ability to work on your own.

    Cons

Inept middle management. Never ever get off shifts when scheduled. Zero benefits. Being promoted from driver will result in pay decrease.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage GMs to meet with other employees instead of just AGMs to get feedback from the whole team.

I have been working at Papa John's full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

First of all, Papa John's sells a top notch product. I don't have any issues with corporate. I worked in many franchise stores within a region. Started out as a driver, loved it. Asked to be in the management training program. Became an asst. mgr. and did well. After a few years, was given the opportunity to manage a store that was on it's way out before it closed. Not the best opportunity to prove oneself. Went back to asst. mgr until I was required to work dough continuously for 10+ hr shifts. Now driving again until I can find something else to use my management skills without the physical demand and long hours.

    Cons

Work-life balance stinks. Rate of pay for managers is embarrassing. You don't have a set schedule, it changes every week. There is no lunch break or 15 min breaks during your shift. Not sure how that is legal. The culture among employees is a lack of work ethic; feels like pulling a freight train by yourself. High turnover rate. Constant repetitive motion from working dough has resulted in injury, hopefully not long term. District mgr. is inept. Repeated inquiries for equipment repair and supplies for the office are frequently ignored. Numerous managers and asst. managers have moved on in the last 4 months due to the unprofessional manner in which situations were handled.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time to listen to your managers and make available the tools they need to succeed. If someone is giving their all to the company and there is no real effort being made to support them, they will eventually become frustrated, worn out and leave. This is not a good way to promote long-term success for your franchise.

    I worked at Papa John's

    Pros

None. I was in high school when I worked here and still felt like I was too old for the job,

    Cons

Everything. From management to other workers, its such a skeevy work environment. After 8 months of working there, I had to leave.

I have been working at Papa John's full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Easy job, very easy
A lot of doing nothing and getting paid

    Cons

Absolutely no communication. Told in the interview is would be full time I'm only getting 18 hours a week. I'm an insider and working there three months and haven't been trained to do anything other than answer phones and fold boxes. Seriously!? The mangers all hate each other and tend to take that frustration out on the employees. Only work nights.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to communicate with your employees. And have a management meeting so all are on the same page, rather than each manager saying something different

    Pros

Feel like you make a positive influence in the younger employees you work with.

    Cons

Easy to get in a dead-end rut at this job. Pay is horrible, no room for advancement. Tends to be unmotivated employees that work here.
