    Pros

Focuses employees -- training and respective culture.

    Cons

Highly decentralized makes for inefficiency in communizing operations. Work-life balance is poor. Very political. They do not generally focus on the right numbers so how you manage your superiors dictates how you do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revamp your culture and your methodologies.

I have been working at Parker Hannifin full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Flex time is good, however Parker does not allow one person to adjusst their schedule but will allow another person to do adjust their schedule for the exact same thing. We still have health insurance though out of pocket and deductibles are getting higher. Cam program is okay.

    Cons

Constant changes, some good, some bad. Pay raises do not keep up with inflation at all. Benefits are being cut. Insurance cost more for to get less. Vacation is decent, DTO program is still in place but the company has started targeting every one for using it, because a few have abused it. Target the abusers leave the rest of us alone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Start giving the Hourly
wage earners raises, before you lose all of your talented workers to Boeing, Bosch and othe companies.

    Pros

Overall good place to work. Compensation is below average, but very good health insurance and preventative maintenance plans.
Stable job provided sales are to plan.
All workers have the same end goal in mind.

    Cons

Compensation not inline with state in which you are living... All based on Cleveland cost of living.
No real succession planning... What will happen when the 20+ year employees retire?
Behind the 8 ball with regards to competition and technology.

I have been working at Parker Hannifin

    Pros

Top corp leaders are the best of the best. Very good retirement and 401k program. Company is a top investor performer and strong knowledge of P&L at every level of the organization. Metric savvy. Good focus on customers and Eng solutions.

    Cons

Very top heavy below the corp level with to many layers which make key actions slow from the site levels sty times. Group staff and larger divisions are very ridged and they don't talk the talk. Lean does not mean "Less" "employees" "are" "needed". It should focus on optimization of materials, labor, and information not just reducing heads. Need to focus more on employee / work life balancing. Lastly loosing its family feel that was around during the Pat Parker days. Pay is ok but below peer companies. Benefits have become very exsp. the past few years. Vacation and holidays are on the low end of the spectrum. Very "clicky" when it comes to promotions and discipline.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take time to listen to your employees at every level. Group and Division leaders need to keep promises / and focus documented and verbal. Invest in equipment and provide support / hand on leadership. Empower and trust site employees to make key actions without micro managing, let them be creating with problem solving solutions. Not every situation will fit a model paradigm already established. Be consistent when rolling out key business focus tool roll out.

    Pros

Fantastic benibenibenefits plans, bonuses and opportunities if you are in the right place with good upper managers.

    Cons

Managemenphilosophy ist and their subordinates are all driven buy a "PPP" parker performance plan. They can have little to do what needs to be done. Annual reviews can contain petty comments instead of constructive criticism.
Corporate philosophy is to purchase company rather than to invent something.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engineer success, not purchase it at the expense of the United States job market.

I have been working at Parker Hannifin full-time

    Pros

Work schedule is not too stressful. Lots of different divisions to move around to. Lots of steps on the management rung.(not sure if that is a pro)

    Cons

Must move up or out. Most management comes from other divisions and does not have knowledge of the division they are managing. It seems most divisions focus only on taking cost out of existing products, not growing new business with new products.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time learning the division and staying in one spot. It will help with organic growth.

    Pros

The pay and benefits was the best part.

    Cons

This company is a company that if you suck up you can move up. If gourmet don't tell on people and try to make them look bad you will not move up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't listen to all the gossip cause most of it is untrue.
