    Pros

    Best thing about working here or anywhere in Downtown Disney is getting a cast member card to get into the park as much as you'd like for FREE!!!! only downside is that you cant get others in unless you are a manager or work INSIDE the park but other than that it still is amazing to get that kind of deal.

    Cons

    HEAVY traffic flow, specially during the holiday seasons

    Advice to Management

    the higher executives and general manager could be a bit nicer to the staff and not yell at them or throw thing at them

    Pros

    talented chefs, interesting people, decent experience.

    Cons

    Tendency to promote unqualified and unprofessional management, lack of training company wide, no employee appreciation, disorganized HR, payroll & reimbursement programs, plenty of nepotism and favoritism. Unappreciative founder/owner. Does not promote within company consistently. HR issues consistent with the industry.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your management & all staff as you would like your guests to be treated. They are the first face to the guest after all. Hospital 101. Implement substantial training programs.Give back to the community you claim to support-discounting your services is not action-it is just a tax deduction on inflated costs. Get out and do something

    Pros

    Non-seasonal employees receive full health care for nominal charge through the union. Holiday season provides many opportunities to work and make great money. Regular customers (from NBC and other corporate/businesses in building and nearby) comprise a good deal of breakfast and lunch business.

    Cons

    Frustrating conditions: Want servers to perform at fine dining level but don't provide support staff to do so. Attracts many tourists who think it is a cafe or diner and are shocked by prices (and therefore do not order much). Junior management is routinely stressed and either take it out on staff or have difficulty handling issues.

    Advice to Management

    Become clear about direction taking restaurant and follow that direction through so it's consistent.

    Pros

    The money is decent, there are several managers who are extremely supportive and kind, schedules are generally respected and flexible, no one ever gets fired

    Cons

    Extreme overstaffing, brutish managers, no help in cases of repeat customers who do not tip at all, impossible to get benefits, no communication between managers and staff

    Advice to Management

    the goal of the staff and management is the same: maximize sales and customer satisfaction to maximize profits/tips. increased communication would do a world of difference and a happy server is more likely to lead to a happy customer and ultimately a happy bottom line for Patina. staff suggestions should not be treated as subversiveness.

    Pros

    Pretty good place to work. Made good money behind the bar. Usually you made comparable money on how hard you worked during the shift.

    Cons

    Management didn't treat people well. Dealt with many irate customers and families. Kitchen messed up a lot and you had to take food off of their bill, lowering your tip.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees. Upper management didn't do a great job hiring good management during my time there. There were some good managers, but a lot of really bad ones.

    Pros

    Recognized Chef, industry name, good presence in the Los Angeles and New York City Markets. Some talented people at the helm.

    Cons

    Downturn in industry has created a somewhat necessary penny wise, dollar foolish mindset at the company. This will hurt them compared to others when things finally turn upward. They have a lot of unprofitable locations bringing the rest of the company down.

    Advice to Management

    Remember what made you successful in the past. In this economy "luck" will be exposed for what it is. The only differentiation companies have now are their "people".

    working with some of the top chefs in the city...also learning new trends and tech of gastronamy.

    Cons

    the amount of money you get vs. the amount of hours you are expected to work.

    Pros

    I've made life-long friends at my job and have learned the ins and outs of the restaurant industry. Food and wine have become a passion.

    Cons

    No recognition for hard work. I feel as though I get scrutinized for the smallest things that are beyond my control.

    Advice to Management

    An 18% gratuity on a party of 8 or more is insulting. Especially in a high tourist area, where half of them don't know how to tip accordingly.

    If you work very hard, you can eventually move up the ladder
    Some autonomy

    Very poor communication
    Bad life/work balance
    Not encouraging/nurturing environment
